Vista Vs Xp

  Clio 197
Hello!

I'm ordering a laptop, and I'm not sure which OS to go with.

Vista Home Premium Vs XP Pro.

I want the system to run smoothely, and I'd like my battery life to be optimal.

I'm opting for intel integrated graphics (as opposed to gefoce), and a simple 1.5ghz core 2 duo T5250. I'm also opting for 2GB ram.

Opinions?

Ta.

The only reason to go for XP is compatibility.

Vista is stable and has a nicer looking interface.

just about to order my laptop and going for xp as i have programs that will probably not work with fister..

If you go with XP you'll get offered an upgrade, then when you upgrade it will screw up your laptop. My opinion would be to go with Vista in the first place, there are "very few" problems with it the main problems are coming from upgrading to Vista from XP.

id stick with xp personally

nothing wrong with it and not as resource hungry
good for a fair old while yet i recon

  Better than yours. C*nt.
If your laptop ships with Vista as an option, get it. It's fine, and refreshingly different interface if you use XP on a daily basis.

ive always been an xp person myself and always said "nah ill never go vista, its too buggy, its crap ill stick with xp"

how wrong i was, switched to vista and its so refreshing, so much better. havnt had 1 single problem with anything so far, so ignore anyone who says its crap etc cause theyre talking shite.

im sure KDF will be along soon to say its crap and that ubuntu/linux are miles better, but if you want a windows OS, go vista, no contest really.

Vista keeps asking if you want to run a program when u clicked to run it. course i wanna run the program if i clicked on it. lol

and thats why you hate it?

if you asked someone and went into run/msconfig and went into tools, you could Disable UAC.

only issue i have with it is compatability and being unfamiliar with the over complicated layout and pointless animations that take time.
im sure it will be ok in a year or two once everything has been made compatable.

i prefer my windows to close when i shut them down instea dof doing a pretty fade. im guessing you can switch those types of crap off?

Neither.. ubuntu is the future...

BUT if you have to install inferior software ;) I would use XP for at least another 6 months before even considering vista.

yup, just disable Aero.

tbh i dont think anyone has said a valid point for not liking vista so far.

compaitibility issues are pretty much non existant. with games you can simply run them in xp mode (not that ive had to and im constantly aquiring new games)

We have seen some serious compatibility problems with programs that simply don't work and have no manufacturer support for Vista. Personally I'd get a Mac. Ooop.

Just Colin Mcrae 2005 which does not work.... but I bought DIRT instead which is just a much fun.

I've just put vista on my laptop and I'm very impressed with it. My everday programmes seem to run as quick as on XP.

If I had the choice I'd be going with Vista.

Excellent debate... just what I wanted.

Could I run an XP virtual machine under Vista, for those few proggies with a compatibility issue?
