want to loose my sub - can i?

  LY 182
Well the sub in the back of my car i have now decided is just a great big dead weight - which sildes all over the place on the country lanes even with 3 branches of halfords worth of velcro stuck to the thing.
so im now looking at ditching the sub and keeping my quite expensive decent amp and just amping up a set of good front components - will i be happy with the result after having the sub?
dont want loads of bass the sub is always on its lowest setting anyway - just want a bit of punch

cheers

You can never really replace the sub-bass a subwoofer gives really. If your fed up with it knocking about then knock up a false floor and screw it down, mines totally solid now.

If you want to do away with the sub a decent set of speakers will be fine, they won't be as bassey as a sub, but a decent set won't be bad at all.

As for the sub moving about, i'm not sure. mine was velcro'd down & it never moved at all :S As above, bungee straps work well though.

Mine was velcro'd down just using the part of the velcro with the little hook/spikey bits on it, they stuck in the carpet like sh*t to rug :)
