Wanting a softer ride.....recommendations please

  2004 iceberg 172
The ride in my Clio 172 is absolutely dreadful. It was lowered when I bought it, the slightest bump in the road and you feel it, absolutely hate it. Looked in the receipt folder and there's a receipt for some apex springs so I'm guessing that's what is currently on it, handles very well just don't like the stiffness so I want to change them for something a little less harsh...what is recommended?

Are the sportslines good with standard shocks, don't really want to fork out on up rated shocks aswel

Possibly knackered the shocks having shorter springs on it, which is why it's not the best idea to just do lowering springs.

Going back to stock is probably softest/nicest...

If you want lowz, Koni adjustable dampers + Eibach Sport/Prolines should do you.

If budget allows, decent coilovers.

ATM I like the way it sits so don't want to go back to standard, think its lowered 40mm, just don't like the ride, it's just way too harsh for my liking, don't really want to go low low, so no point in coilovers as there going to cost too much for a descent set, so just want springs

Don't come back complaining when it's exactly the same after you've just swapped lowering springs for lowering springs then :rasp:

Slightly off topic but the price of the full koni set and eibachs isn't far off Bilsteins. I'd probably go bilsteins if I had a 172 over the full koni setup.

Haha....on a serious note thou will it be softer or will the sportlines be just as bad, don't want to pay out £120 ish if it's going to be just as bad, I've just had springs on plenty of other cars but they've never been this bad

Put it this way I had avo springs on std shocks sat real low like apex ride was shockingly bad ! Took them off after a week couldn't take it !
Went back to std springs . Drove a clio on std shocks and sportlines couldnt believe the difference , got them on mine now best mod I have done.

I've got Apex on mine, might as well just have breeze blocks instead of springs, they are quite bad in the comfort department :)
