Warm Air Con (climate control type)

Hi Everyone,

I have a problem with my air con at the moment. I normally have the climate control in the car set to about 21 degrees so havent really noticed this problem so im not sure how long its been going on.

Anyway, my air con seems to be blowing out warm air now. When i set the climate control to minimum without the air con on, its slightly cold, as a normal fan would be if you didnt have air con installed. However, when i press the AC switch, it actually warms up a bit!
No matter what i do i cant get the air con to blow out as it once did. The temperatures in the car seem to be hotter than before due to the cold air not being available to regulate it to the temp ive set it to.

Do i need a simple re-gas or does anyone think its something else? Ive read that a blocked particle filter of faulty temp sensor could be to blame?

tbh with how cold it is now , regass prolly wont solve it. Although it may need doing at some point If you set it to "min" it should blow roughly equal to the out side temp with air con off.

It could be the faulty temp sensor next to interior lights. but most cases show its ^^^^

hello, i think im having the same problem.
i have not used my air con in years cos im tight. so today when i did want to use it, it blew Red Hot, even though it was on minimum, it didnt blow any kind of cool air (19 degrees outside in the sun) when the AC button was off.
So do i need Gas???
i assumed that cool or cold would blow until you put the AC on and then you get Frosty???? but Im a girl and kind of blonde.

if its blowing hot air as in it feels warmer then out side , its possible the heater selector cog that broke so the fix in link above

if it feels same as out side when set to min, then prolly just needs re gassing

this is hard to type - my fingers/hands hurt so much. my back is broke, my neck is twisted the wrong way round and im upside down.

But how long will it work for? Why the hell did Renault do this so you cant simply fix it?? you b*****ds, and I hate my car right now. Off to have a beer and put some hand cream on my poor ickle paws.

regas is about £40 - £50 to get done...but don't use Kwik Fit

There are different reports as to how long it should last, I think its every couple of years, but they do recommend to use it every now and again just to give it a chance to get round your system.

kwik fit said £40 today and if it doesnt make a difference they wont charge. I hate kwick fit and I have added HiQ to my list recently too. wonder who will be No 3??

theres loads in leeds that do it, prices vary though. just phone around.

they shud all vacume leak test the system before filling any way

But they will then advise that your system needs cleaning, or something else random. I remember one person saying that they were looking to charge him something like £150 to clean his system out and regas! They are a company who prey on people not having a clue!

This is why I hate being a woman and hate going to a Garage. I wish I could open my own garage run by women for women.
One fairly good thing is that I put up a good fight and always question things.

I work for a company who use kwik fit and hiq. Even though hiq knew where I work they still tried there hardest to rip me off and freak me out.

Got the air con re gassed, I didn't even get to try it or sit in the car. I noticed the headlight was out. Then they said, why are all the warning lights on????? Well mechanic you tell me FFS. They killed the battery for starters. Then secondly turns out the alternator wasn't working properly. So no charge to the battery. This all happened at closing time. So pookie stayed out last night. And spend more money today. But at least it died there cos I wouldn't be trying to fix that on the M62

putting 2 and 2 together, yes i'd say there was a fault with the alternator. and I blame Lex Auto 2 years ago for not telling me when I asked them about the battery. and I blame them again when I took the faulty battery back a year later. both times they said it was the battery and just changed it. when probably it was the alternator. And then last night it just gave up the ghost.

But I didnt expect the expense of paying for one of them this morning - FFS. they got me over a barrel again. i would have bought a recon one, but then they would charge me for all the labour. I've bought a new one and only been charged one hours labour.............................they have spent at least 2 hours working on the car. I totally feel ripped off every time I take my car to a garage. But GlobalAutocare is convenient and have saved me money occasionally - they charge me £35 per hour labour, and pick me up and drop me off. I suppose I should stop moaning and just take it on the chin. The part is expensive, and be grateful they havent charged much for labour.

I went to these cos they are a preferred user at work, and my theory is that if they piss me off, and they piss my work off, then they lose a hell of a lot of money. and reputation and word of mouth speaks volumes.
and they say they do me at mates rates. so what do you do :S

Got my aircon re-gassed about a month ago and typical now that the warm sticky climate is hanging over us the AC makes no noticeable difference at all :S

They said they did a leak check & injected the dye in too.
Also told me I may of had a slow leak before I got re-gassed and it may go again - what can I look for?
