Warning light appeared!!!

  200 Ultra Red
On way home tonight the 'SERV' warning light appeared, along with this the ESP light is permanantly on too.

After reading the manual it says I have to visit a RENAULT dealer immediately.

Anyone any ideas what this means?

Car is a 55 reg 182.

Cheers.

^thats not what the serv light is for!

its actually to tell you you have an electronic problem, nothing to do with servicing

Kinda guessed is wasn't about servicing, any ideas what it is for then? Cars in warranty until april 08 so aint gotta worry about cost just worried about what the problem might be.

Did you loose drive?

I had this intermittantly to start with and I lost the use of the throttle.

£300 to fix. New throttle body.

I think other common causes are the abs sensors.

Nah I didn't lose drive.

Went up to the renault garage the day and they've said it'll cost £40 to diagnose the problem then if its a warranty issue theres not further costs, but still £40 is a bit steep aint it?

You shouldn't pay for it if it's still under warranty, take it to another Renault dealer.

It could be some thing to do with the brake switch, as it is common for them to fail, but you normally get the ABS light also.

I thought it would be free aswell, but apparently to hook it up to the diagnostics computer it'll cost me £40ish which will not be reinbursed even if it is a warranty fault.

Luckily have a friend whos husband is head technician at another renault dealership who said he'll sort everyhting out for me. Result!

You shouldn't have to pay for them to find out the problem.

Mine has been checked plenty of times and I never paid a penny.

I wouldn't take it to them again.

You definately shouldn't have to pay for to diagnose the fault. Renault should cover the cost when it's within warranty!!

You've got to love the amount of people that think the SERV light is for when the car needs a service. My g/f was refusing to get her car serviced as the light hadn't come on.

ring renault uk and tell them! was the guy you spoke to called John Wayne by chance? ;)

Think his name was Bell End by the sound of things. Will just wait till Saturday to get it sorted. If the lad I know at renault tells me that this guy was trying it on I'll defo be in touch with Renault UK.
