hey guys, checked my brake fluid earlier, topped it up too much, didnt think anything of it, went for a drive and alls fine until i realise the handbrake light (circle with ! in the middle), is very dimly lit.

anyways get home and drain some out till its just below the "maxi" line, now the light is still on??

whats the probs? was it just on because it had too much and now i've drained it will it go out with some use or have i broken something lol :S :eek:

not sure of your reg but on early clios there was a connector block that got water in it and did the had same fault. think it is attached to one of the chassis legs. remove it and check to see if the fluid is causing a short circuit.

One option might be to clean the brake fluid reservoir top/lid, the one with the connector in it. Clean up the contacts etc and wipe off all the brake fluid. Might have become contaminated. It might cure it.

thats a bloody good point mate thank you, it did look like it had brake fluid all over the lid where i had over filled it and it had come out the top.

what should i clean it with? just hot water?

No water :dapprove: ! Just wipe it with a clean rag I reckon.

if you can do it safely, clean the inside of the connector with a cotton bud. If you have any wd40 spray that onto the cotton wool bud, and not the item.

Remember, it needs to go back into the brake fluid, so what you put on it will contaminate it. Could be best to let it dry out overnight, but then you risk the chance of moisture getting into the brake fluid.

hey people update;

took it for a quick trip to do some shopping and the light has gone out, i think there may have just been residue in the cap as i had taken the level back down to spot on the maxi mark.

any way its all good now :)
