washer jets someone shed a little light thanks guys

I have recently purchased a 182 full body but I want to have working headlight washer jets could some one tell me what I need as in like the pump,wires, fixings or just a little how to guide ? Thanks in advance guys

It's a lot of effort tbh, I would just get some washer blanks.

However for a start you will need a new washer bottle and at least one new pump (maybe 2 actually). But I'm still not sure if it will be possible even after that.

Would I not be able to connect the headlight pump to the front windscreen pump so when I wash the windscreen it washes the headlight aswell seems a easy way around things ?

No, don't think so

How come if I connect the headlight pump leads to the leads of the windscreen pump surely when I wash my windscreen that will then activate the headlight pump aswell

Because you may end up blowing a fuse, as the current draw will be doubled!

The 182 uses two pumps, and has two wiring connectors!

Looks to me its just a dual pump mate 2 pumps in 1 unit

It's different to yours, you will need a new one

Did you get the 182 xenon headlights along with the bumper? If so, you'll HAVE to get the washers working. It will be an MOT failure otherwise.

I done it a few weeks back. You need the washer bottle as you need the two pumps, and then the tubing to run to either washer jet. After this there's a good chance you'll need to get it onto a CLIP computer (I had to) to get the connection to the headlight washer pump activated. It's controlled by the UCH so it only works when the headlights are on and the washers have been held on for longer than 1 second. It's a lot of hassle tbh and I only did it because I was getting the car onto the computer for something else anyway and managed to get the parts cheap.

No it won't. They can't test what isn't there, same as the auto leveling. If it is a standard feature of the car it would have to work. However 1.2's never came with Xenons so don't require them.

That's a piss-poor situation if it is. Xenons generate hardly any heat, so you need headlight washers to aid removal of snow, etc. But you attach xenons to a 1.2 and that makes you exempt as they aren't a factory fit option?

Makes a mockery of the original ruling, imo!

Yes, it's a loophole!

For new cars yes they are, for cars that have them there they must work, but they can't test them if they're not there

I'm putting some on my cup so I've spent a while reading up on it!

They are required for type approval, but there must have been a time when HIDs were first used and rulings came in regarding washers and self leveling, in that time some cars may have been approved/produced with HIDs but without washers/levelers. So to be sure the MOT has to make allowance for them.

The early advice on HIDs requirements was and still is correct, its just the MoT rules have to allow for some variations.

The clio is type approved with washers/levelers, so therefore if you dont have them, you may pass an MoT but technically your car wouldnt comply with its type approval and therefore contravines the Construction And Use regs - so VOSA could technically fine you/get you to remove them. HOWEVER thats pretty much the same for any modification to cars (exhausts/suspension etc etc) so its virtually never enforced on passenger cars - VOSA are primarally concered with comercial vehicles etc.

They are, but the same applies to the levelers and washers.
