Water up CAF

  RB 182
Fitted a larger CAF from my lower grill on my 182 straight up to the filter. noticed today that alot of water has come up it to. On the plus side it means there is a pretty good flow of air getting to the filter but will the water cause any problem other that making a bit of a mess. Would putting some kind of gauze etc over the end help this or just reduce the amount of cold air getting through.

i have the same cold air feed on my cup and i ended up with bent rods on mine my own stupid fault though.

It will cause a lot of damage if it reaches your engine, is the water just on the inside of the pipe or is it reaching the filter. If you have something like a ITG filter they are water resistant iirc. I get water going up mine but its never actually reached the airbox.

theres water right at the top of the pipe near the filter and you can see theres water marks on the jubilee clip that holds it on. Think i'll look out for a V6 air box instead of my k&n after hearing about wrecking engines

Best way to do it is have a small gap between the end of a the CAF and the filter so if water is sucked up it cant go past the gap,

if its only drops splashing your filter i cant see it causing any problem but as said watch for puddles, water cant be compressed like air and fuel so if your engine sucks it in it'll bend the rods or shoot the crank out the side of the engine!
