Hello all..

What would you say is the best value for money wax out there.. and what would you recommend to use on a flame red car?

I'm not wanting to go anything 'high end' and will be my first wax.

Anyone got anything for sale?

I think poor boys natty white wax is a great first wax , lasts along time looks great and is so easy to use o and it smells great !

If u can spend abit more dodo juice rain forest rub is very very good too

Theres such a huge choice out there
DDJ is a good starter. Not the most durable but gives a good shine

Or autoglym HD is another decent starter

I dont have a clue about them. Had a ganders on clean your car etc.. Whats the difference between hard and soft wax. Pros/cons?

  PH2 Flamer
Hard waxes are more difficult to apply to your chosen applicator, Such as hd wax. Soft waxes are easier too spread, such as poor boys wheel sealant wax.

I've read soft waxes are better for looks, harder ones are better for durability. How true that is, I don't know. Because poor boys wheel sealant is pretty durable IMO.

I wouldn't choose one wax over another for it. Being hard/soft though. It's just it's texture.

Just as a starter 20-30quid i spose. And looks i spose as i don't mind topping it up once a month or whatever

I'm keeping my eye on this as although I don't have a flamer I have only ever polished my car by hand with AG super resin polish I've never waxed my car. I use meguires yellow mirror glaze at work for sometime for waxing patterns but that's it. lol

If you can push the budget to £34 then the wax I tell e erroneous to get it bouncers 22. It's durability is around 3-4 months and it looks brilliant as it really brings the flakes out in paint! Bouncers 22 really pushes above its price tag.

Failing that check amazon out and get autoglym HD wax, very durable at 6+ months and looks quite good too however application is harder than the above.

Cool thanks. Is claying before waxing a must?

At the moment i just rinse the car off, then use dodo juice shampoo to wash the car 2bm, dry it, then every other wash use iron-x to detar it .. So i think i'd then clay it, then wax it?

Iron x won't de tar the car, iron x will remove the iron and other metal contaminants. The basic process would be:

rinse down, two bucket method wash, rinse, iron x, tar remover, rinse, clay, cleanse/glaze/polish, then wax.

  Golf GT & A4 Avant
Iron x removes iron deposits, it won't touch tar. For that you need a tar remover. Use this when your wax isn't protecting anymore and you want to start again.

typically clay once a year as this will remove contaminants as well as wax. Most waxes will last 3months or more, so use iron x when it has worn off and you want to protect the car fully again, using it every other wash is a waste of product. If it is removing anything it means youre not protecting the finish properly.

for the top end of your budget I'd recommend bouncers 22 to bring out the flake pop, or bouncers Satsuma rock to bring out the deep glossy glow.

Just ordered some Bouncers 22 for the flamer.

Any recommendations on a polish. Was using tripple, but that's all gone.

Get more tripple mate, it's a great allrounder. Tripple then a nice layer of bouncers will be lovely.

Dave is banana armour good for brining out the colour on the inferno

Or go for one of the waxes you mentioned

It's an all in one mate, polish, glaze, protection.

Yeah normally the harder the wax the more durable. Softer waxes are easy to work with

DDJ banana armour is fine, smells lovely but its not the most durable. I use it for the mini

Zymol carbon is meant to be very good wax
