hey guys..

my pc has a normal network card with ethernet port AND a wireless card..

the weirdest thing has happened though..

when i connect to my home network with the wireless (just the wireless)the internet and network work fine.

but when I then connect my network via ethernet cable at the same time, the internet ceases to work, but the network computers and folders are still there and accessable!

when i disconnect the wireless, it stays the same!

why is this happening!? i have reset my routers and pc etc.. and no joy!

Is the router giving out addresses via DHCP? It sounds like it is wirelessly (hence the DNS and IP settings working fine for the internet, etc) - but you may have some static settings in place on the 10/100 LAN port.

Do Start -> Run and type CMD.

In the black text box, type:-

ipconfig /all

And see if on the fixed ethernet card, its set via DHCP.

D.

it's all set via dhcp.. but has strangely started working!

If it happens again, first thing to do is right click the network connection icon and choose "repair".
If that doesn't fix it you probably have a misconfiguration somewhere.
