Weird Sub Problem

  Clio 1.2 16V Dynamique
My sub has been working fine since I installed it but all of a sudden today it emits bass every second or so even when there is no music playing and when music is playing its still the constant thump. I dunno if I described it very well lol but anyone any ideas whats up?

Cheers

I would check the amp to sub cable, sometimes the sub will do this when the amp turns on and off so i would check the cables and you may not be using a thick enough power cable to supply the power to the amp.

Thanks for the reply guys, I checked the connections on the amp and the sub and they seem fine. I checked the earth connection too and that looked fine as well. Its kinda weird how it would happen just randomly though. I did notice that when I turn the ignition on, the sub is in protection mode then switches to power only and thumps and keeps repeating that.

My problem is similar but not quite the same as that thread, there is no buzzing noise and there isnt any noise coming from the 6x9s, the sub just keeps outputting bass every few seconds.
I'll try wiggling the RCAs see if that helps but I tried turning the bass down in the HU and the bass still ouputs at the same level.

With the stereo switched OFF;

Remove the RCA leads from the amp....

Switch stereo on as if playing as normal....

Rhythmic thumping still occuring indicates fault lies with the amp, sub or associated wiring....

Rhythmic thumping no longer occuring indicates fault lies with Head Unit or RCA leads....

If an amplifiers earth isn't adequate they tend to earth through the Head Unit via the RCA leads....If using a Pioneer Head Unit, chances are this would have damaged the Head Units earth track which could cause this type of feedback....

Cheers for the reply man, took the RCA leads out and the rhythmic thumping still occured so I'll try reconnecting the wires and al borrow another sub. The annoying thing is I cant stop it though cos it still thumps with no music on.

Sorry for double post but it wouldnt let me edit. I messed about with the speaker wiring from the amp to the sub and now I'm getting the power light on but no sound. This did happen ages ago and it turned out to be the way I wired it inside but I fixed it and it was working after that. Any more ideas?
