Well it was bound to happen eventually.

A couple of weeks ago I parked my car up at work as I always do, in the corner of the carpark so that, if I park in a certain way, no one generally tries to park next to me. I went into work, did my shift only to come out being greeted to this

So I have been driving around like this for a week or so now, slowly losing my love for my 182, seriously started to consider selling it on once the work has been done.

Luckily my dad used to spray cars for a living, so he said that if i help him pay for the products, he would spray the car up himself and also do some other work on it which needs to be done. I naturally agreed.

Well today he started on the work, only doing half the bumper at a time due to being in such a small garage and having to control the amount of overspray.

Heres some pictures for you.

After as you can see a fair bit of work, this is the finished product, well nearly just needs to be polished up when the laquer (sp)? has fully hardened.

To say im well chuffed with it would be a total understatement, im over the moon with the way it has come up, and tbh cant wait for the rest of the car to be done, already I am starting to fall back in love with her, really want to clean her now but aint allowed :( lol.

Well thanks for reading, thought I would share

Cheers

Glad you got it sorted mate.

You aren't going to be painting the other half of the bumper at a later date tho are you?

Superb effort.

Could it not have been easier to take the bumber off to avoid taping up the rest of the motor? Even still looks gret.

nope they drove off, we have got cctv at work that points into the carpark but where I park it doesnt point too full stop lol, which is typical. I recon it was some old biddy which saw the gap between my car and the fence and tried to squeeze in obv hit my car then buggared off, my alarm never went off either bloody thing lol, but yer looks better than when it did when i bought it now, well that part of the bumper anyway lol

Just got other half of the bumper, tailgate, wing mirror, alloy, and part of the roof to respray haha, the best bit about that was I only did the alloy.

yer tbh it probly would have been easier to take the bumper off and do the whole lot but my dad was worried alot about the overspray in the garage, he didnt cover everything in there and also because i need the car tomor so had to be done today, so doing half at a time and fading the middle. Also he was worried about painting the whole bumper then scratching it when trying to put it back together, he hates fitting lol. Tbh i really dont mind how he does it, as long as he keeps up this standard haha

Can't see the bumper turning out good mate painting half at a time.

It would be easier to take it off and prep the full thing. Just my opinion.

reminds me i need to primer my bumper , its been waiting for nearly a year hahai keep forgetting

na thats fair enough your welcome to your opinion, the thing is, when he used to be in the painting business he was bloody good, the amount of comments he got when he only sprayed half a bonnet and the likes was unreal, so I have complete faith in him. Tom he wouldnt do mine let alone yours haha sorry pal

Ah cool mate, i'm an assessor just found it starnge to do half at a time.

And if half a bonnet came out well then i'm impressed.

Good luck.

haha cheers buddy, yer he told me that story a while ago and my older brothers were there watching him with the rest of the workshop while he did it apparently and were all really shocked lol. I think if he had been in a proper workshop with ovens and the likes he would have just whipped it off and done the whole thing but with it being soo small and me needing the car tomor he thought this was the best way to go ha.

cheers

+1 would be sound if the other half wasnt being done unless the next time you do it the do the whole bumper. wont have to worry about blending and fade outs in the middle of it.
other than that though it looks spot on.

The original damage looks really wierd.

Looks like you were hit by a corrugated roof :S.

Repair looks impressive so far

Given he's only painted a portion of the bumper, but if you are any good at painting (and i think it's fair to say his dad is!) you can blend new paint with old. Seen my mate do it tonnes of times!

New to old is easy, new to old then new to new is a whole other ball game.

That looks like it's been done well :)

I scrapped mine in a car park - normally really carefull with park next to s**t to!

How much was it in total?

  ur megane r26
well i believe all the bits came to about 350 but we have got loads of everything left. A pot of paint which is the waterbased stuff was 25 quid and there is over 3/4 of that left.

your old man's done a belting job mate, saved yourself a load of money there! it's looking good, cant believe you had thoughts of selling it!!!

  ur megane r26
haha ta buddy, yer he has done a proper good job, he is well chuffed with it haha aint done it for going on 15 years as well lol. Must be a natural. Yer well it was/still is to a certain extent in a bad way and i just kept looking at it and ended up getting annoyed with it, I just lost all my love for it, it didnt even feel the same when i drove it for some reason ha but im sticking with it for now, got to spend some more money on it to get it back to being mint again
