  black golf v6 4 motion
i have had loads of problems with benfield reno myslef, i actually was also told "you are not to come to back to any benfield dealership" so i bought my next clio 182 from benfield VW scotswood road. my mate also had probs with the same dealership your having problems with, he bought a brand new trophy from them and had nothing but problems with it and scotswood actually said they would fix it but everytime he was booked in they said sorry we have no record of you booking in!!!!, in the end he parked the car up in their forecourt and give them keys back, this is still on going. but benfield are having alot of probs round here.
someone else on had alot of probs with benfield on benfield road chris i think he's called....

Theres an easy way to sort out problems I find, dont take it to large dealers if u can avoid, cos they dont give a s**t and will survive on warranty work, take it to small specialists who care, and if Renault f**k you off and are not doing there job properly, ring up the UK managing director. My brother did it with his Audi S3, he not only got a free future service, aswell as any parts, he got refunded for his original problems. The end.

Hiya. Got my new gear linkage on yesterday, its all nice and neat underneath now, but, still having a few problems getting it in 4th and now 1st, although that was yesterday when he told me to take it for a test drive, seemed ok today, although never went very far. The main reason why it was hanging so low, was because the tossers at scotswood road benefiled had bent it, it was well out compared to the new one he fitted. The tossers at scotswood road also overfilled my gear box oil, it pissed out when i asked the other garage to check it, as this was one of the notes that scotswood road put on my file, even though they couldnt be bothered to phone me and tell me, just wondering if it was them that broke it somehow, as there was another oil leak from the gear selector or something, i know this was fine two months ago, as mike from rentech would have picked it up when i took it in for my 24k service. My question is; why would they have touched anything to do with my gear box-gearbox oil when they only needed to remove my gear linkage? to get to my sump gasket. Lad at the new garage also said that my gearbox had been removed at some point, now i know its never been moved since i have owned it, for nearly a year!

How did you know they put 10w40 in it?

Looks like I will be taking mine to a specialist for its services. I don't live near you, but I've heard bad news about my local garage.

The only thing I'm worried about is a main dealer service history thing.

I know rentech is in portsmouth? So thats too far for me.

Do yozzasport do services? Maybe have to take a trip to GDI. I'm in Notts FYI

I'm so sorry to hear about the problems you have been having with you local Renault Dealer. They sound like a bunch of total incompitent w*****s to me.

I took my Clio to Wilsons Renault in Epsom last year to have the Hazard light switched replaced as the clips broke. Whilst the car was there some geezer had taken it for a 5 mile run using huge amounts of petrol, meaning the car had been booted somewhat. I immediately went back in and complained and was told that all cars had to be 'test driven' after being worked on. I pointed out that you don't have to test drive a car to test a hazard light switch.

The next day the Manageress of the service department rang me. She agreed my car should NOT have been driven, only from its parking space to their workshop and back ( a distance of no more than 1 mile) and said that it was probably the guy that washed it that had taken it out. She then said she would pay personal attention to my car next time it came in. I told her it wouldn't be coming back to them as I could obviously not trust them. To be fair to her, she was very apologetic, but this makes no difference to me.

It appears that the large Renault dealers neither care or are bothered about you or your car, they just want the money and the work.

I am fortunate as I found a GOOD garage 2 miles away from me 21 years ago. They are warranty approved and do excellent work. Their customer service is 2nd to none and they treat EVERY car with the upmost respect.

Chris; If all that happened to your poor little car had happened to mine I WOULD have got the press involved. I most definitely would have given them sever verbal infront of as many customers as I could too (as suggested earlier). I would also have taken as many pics of the damage as I could and sent a very stiff letter (with pics) to Renault Uk warning them that you were not going to let this rest and the fact you were fobbed off with 5 ltrs of oil just isn't good enough.

This garage obviosuly needs investigating as they sound like a bunch of cowboys to me. It might be worth having a word with the 'Officer of fair trading' and also maybe the 'Ministry of transport'.

I hope your car gets sorted out and is back to normal quickly.

Good luck!

P.s. SOrry for the long post folks. lol

Hi polar, i asked them what they put in there, they said they think it was 10-40, obviously the mechanic didnt know it was the wrong oil, otherwise im sure he would have said, so i then said, you do know its supposed to be 5-40.
Hi debz, yeah, im definately taking it further, waiting for a phone call from the lad i spoke to from renault uk, so he can verify something for me. Cheers, Chris.

Just an update if anyone is interested! Managed to get to see the managers manager (operations manger) at benefield road wallesend today. He said he would get a guy in to sort my scratches out, would have another look at my gear linkage and hopefully get my alarm sorted. The service manager from scotswood road was also there, graeme, lol, remember him. So i mention just about everything on my list of complaints, when knob graeme (graham) turns round and mentions my toxic warning light. I had no intention of mentioning this, as ive been told, and i took there word for it, that it was cos of the new dash being fitted. Anyway, he says, by the way, the problem you had with your light looks like there has been a diode fitted to the old toxic fume light, which means it turned the light out, so he says renault now have it and if they find that there is a diode in there, i will be charged the £480 for the new dash, what a c**t huh. So i said, you give me £500 compensation, and i'll happily pay you £480 for it, if it has been tampered with, and he said nothing. Whats a bunch of c***s, they are trying to get me to pay them now, after all the shite they put me through, the damage to my car etc.

Sorry to hear your still having problems with the car:(

Definately not a good advertisment for large dealers

  Clio 182
Sorry to hear this mate, I was considering taking my car to that garage for services etc, but now I think il pass on that. This has scared me off taking my car to a main dealer.

Exactly the reason I won't buy another renault, the dealers are all f**king s**t, renault uk know this but don't care.

I've been to the dealers countless times only to be told that whatever fault I've got is either "a feature they all do it" or "sorry we couldn't reproduce the fault" total s**t, so glad I'm getting rid of mine next weeks, one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made was buying my 172!

The new dash computer is already in fred. The trip milage and everything was resetting, only thing that worked properly was the total milage. It reset everytime i started the car, only in the winter that seemed to happen though, summertime seemed fine. He said they have sent my old one to ren uk for it to be checked out, and im sure he said it looked like there had been some sort of diode fitted, and if it had been tampered with, i would be footing the bill, lol, i dont think so. Yeah lads, dont take it to scotswood road, they really are shite, just wish i'd have known beforehand.

Thank f**k my car is out of warranty.....I can now take it so non Renault dealers/specialists.

Hope you have some joy getting them to sort it out.
