Wet sanding

Car  197
Hey people, ive got a nasty scratch on the o/s/f wing. So i went to motorman, and saw this product which seems really good to get scratches out. But after looking at it, it says that i may need to wet sand the scratches to get them out. Im a but worried about the whole sanding kind of thing on the paint work. How much damage can this do if i get it wrong?

cheers

depends how heavy handed you are and how deep the scratch is . if you go steady and take your time it will com o and polish up fine . bt if the scratch is too deep or you ar too heavy handed you cango through the laquer and it will look a mess and will need painting. is the scratch close to the door or bonnet ?

if you can't feel the scratch, only see it, u can flat it out, using 1500 wet on a small block, tho u need abrasive polish to bring the laquer shine back. otherwise, you'll be flatting out the high points, any material sticking up, but it'll still need paint.

pics of the scratch?

Well i have used the wet sand, and then polished the scratched area back up. I would say it turned out quite good. Alot better than before. The scratches arent fully gone, but still a noticable difference.

^ so if im right, use 1500 wet sand paper, rub the scratch abit then polish like mad, and it comes out good ? id though you only scratch it worse, as iv tried polishing exsisting scratches out but no luck, but you cant feel them tho ..

Get some pics up fella

tbh unless its a very light scratch that aint broke the laquer, you wont get rid of it by wetflatting without touching it up with paint
