what big power mods



hi,
as per my newbi thread, ive just got myslef a lovely cup

and have circa 4k to spend.. as im new to the clio scence i dont know what type of mods or even if they exist that will give me big power gains

who should i be speaking to and what is about

not enough for a turbo conversion there I dont think and I'm not sure if TB's can purchased that cheaply.

well i say circa could bump it up dependent on my company bonus, there could potentially be another 2k to throw at it? would that make any difference or do i fall short?

when you say TBs i assume you mean throttle bodies?
 
cams, inlets and remap are well within budget, or you could get ITB's, which are just shy of £4k without cams or bottom/top end engine work.

I've just sold my ITB's (foolish decision looking back...) and the car went like a rocket with them. Will blow most chavs in their STI's away and with change to spare, worthwhile mod imo as it's reliable as f**k too, didn't have any real issues with mine at all.
 
can i just ask what kind of figures we are looking at for this kind of work,
on the e46 i never really did much,

you had an E46 and now a Clio? Divorced recently?

seriously though, looking at 225ish, enough to be quicker than your E46 from a roll to stupid speeds... unless you have a Ph2, as they weigh a load more.

Mark - only 5k dude, the basic package GDI do is £3750, so add cams and belt change and I cant see it being much more.

sorry whats a F4R?

im not interested in a major project. just this money i have now and thats it, no offence intended to people if i wanted a car worth in the region of 15-20k it wouldnt be a clio

i had 9k to spend and my friend had his cup for sale, even though it was a cat D for 3.5 so the rest of the budget is on mods

lol, power's gone up 50-100bhp, did someone see another thread, panick and load up excel? ;)

you wont be building a 450-500bhp Clio for £4k anyway, best bet is ITB's, a set of Jenveys are your best bet as currently nothing for the Clio market will touch these in terms of power, quality and reliability (for throttle body solutions that is).

Give GDI a call to discuss options, but ITB's are within your price range

nope. i did LOL ... bought a bigger charger,, spent a further 3 k on some secret wepons ;)

stick around... do some serachs on the companys, ring them etc

you will get down to two in the end, both with pro's and cons.

do not spend until you are 100% sure

well imo ITB's are your best bet and within budget (just)

GDI are doing a charger kit also, but dont know much about forced induction, not really my thing to be honest.

also agree with this, great advice. snigglepuff should speak to you once you have had your work done for an unbiased opinion, as to be fair you cant say one way or the other on how good your conversion is or the work with it not being finished.

why does no one suggest JUST throttle bodies anymore? that can be done for under £4K no problem and will give 210hp

does the law according to cliosport state that you MUST have cams when fitting throttle bodies?

no but if your spending that much, then an extra 1k for cams fitted.. makes sence.. you will always want more power.... do it without cams... have to remap when you get round to fitting etc.. plus you get a new belt fitted... just seems worth it IMO... well to me anyways

Plus ben was telling me a while ago that you can get 20 ft-lb from cams if there timed properly.... well on CAT's not shrick :p
