What Cam belt to get as needs changing!!!!

Hi all, This is my first post EVER!! I hope some people can reply and help.

I have a clio 182 with both cups and I need to replace the came. Its 55 reg.

I thought maybe getting some sort of sport Cam?? To make it faster if at all possible

A cambelt is a cambelt. It only controls the timing of the engine and hence you cannot get a "sports" belt to make it any more powerful.

Most people on here will tell you to take it to a Renaultsport specialist to get the work done as afaik it is quite a tricky job without the proper Renaultsport tools.

erm theres 421's maybe or piper cams.type it in the search theres loads on cams

Ill bluff anything with aftermarket gear APART from timing belts and oil filters.

Uhh, right.....just read your post and translated as best as i can. You are talking cam(e)s and not belts.

Just the Cam belt needs replacing. Told that it makes no difference, so I shall take it to my mate who works on performance cars and get him to do it. Thanks for your help!

You need to take it to a specialist mate.

Search the forums there are horror stories on here of even renault dealers getting these belts wrong. Special tools are required and total engine failure can result if they are not done right resulting in the need for replacement valves at best, normally a new head.

Use the RStuner from fastchip for a remap, cheapest/ best generic remap out their, a few company's actually use henk for there remaps, You can normally pick up a rs tuner box in the for sale section, or drop me a pm i've got one for sale at 115 delivered. (its the new style one and you can upgrade the firmware for free to use on the abs/ airbag ecu's too)

Anyone can change the belt properly as long as they have the Renault timing tools, if you have to argue about this fact then just walk away.

I'd recommend a specialist if you don't have a trusty mechanic locally.
