What car to get for £8k

Hi, my mate is wanting a sports car and is willing to spend about £8k+, he is looking at something like a Civic Type R or celica! wot wud u get for the price, and it cant be and more than a 2.0l non turbo! and no scoobys or evos

Seen a couple of 94 spec celica GT- 4s in the autotrader. Pretty fast for the money. £8 Gs that is.
