  Golf GTI PP Mk7
ive got the dell 2001fpw (i think), 20.5" Widescreen TFT panel, superb image clarity and 1610x1280 native res. 2 of those should fit the bill id of thought. Theyre very affordbale now too.

20 to 22" ones are 1680 x 1050

The 24" is 1920 x 1200

I like dual coz you can have one thing on one page and so on, I think one 24" would be well different as you cannot lock one application down?

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

How do you find the ultrasharp models compared to the normal ones? I hear colour is different, but in terms of quality of image?

Some of the guys here like having a 24" some prefer two 21". It depends how they like to work.

I have to suffer with 2 19"s.

The quality of the image is excellent, much better than I was expecting, as in all honesty I'd read some mixed reviews. One of the lads here has one of the earlier models and that wasn't bad. The new ones look fine.

I can't really comment on the colours, but no one has moaned yet and they all game on them seeing as that's what they are developing.

dave, what model is your 22" and how do you find the widescreen compared to the standard 4:3 version?

do you think 2 x 22" would be too much? Would you have liked to had purchased a larger one instead?

Sorry a hard decision to make!!

Many thanks,

We have both at work and obviously the Ultrasharp models are better quality but the margin isn't as big as you'd think.

So would you personally justify spending the extra 30% simply for the ultrasharp model? are the stand and everything else the same though?

I should be using the 'inferior' monitor today but from memory the stand is not as substantial and I don't think it lets you manouvere the actual screen as well as an Ultrsharp model. Also I don't think the menus are as in depth as the Ultrasharp models. Connectivity might me more limited as well as my Ultrasharp monitor has 2 USB ports

Many thanks,

I am perfectly happy with the 22" by itself. If I had two, I think it would be to much. Mine was driven on price, as I got it a fair bit cheaper than the price shown. However I used my Dad's 24" monitor for a weekend of gaming - and if I'm honest it was maybe to big!
I'm a bit of a BF2 junkie, and love playing, and I find the 22" perfect, its also good for watching movies and playing other games, FEAR, Quake etc.

Compared to my 20" CRT its a revalation, that was 4:3 and this is my first widescreen monitor. I wouldn't go back to 4:3 never ever!

As for would I buy two, probably not. For the price of two you may as well look at a bigger overall monitor but for what I would use it for it would be a waste!
Each to their own really, I'm very very happy with mine and its all I really need. If you spend your life infront of a PC it may well be worth it, but IMHO its a bit overkill

Hope that helps a little rather than just confusing the issue!

Dave that helps a lot, and thank you very much for taking your time to answer that, I am able to get it the 22" for £198 inc delivery which is good.

I have never used widescreen, so not sure, but I think I will go for the 22" after your review.

Once again, thanks very much.

I can mail you pictures of mine with battlefield (BF2) webpages etc. Don't mind - just PM me your email addy if it will help at all?

Dave

(as I say I love my 22" widescreen, and having never had a widescreen monitor before I'm finding it hard to work out how I ever managed without one!!!!
I am never ever going back to 4:3!!!)
