What do Halfrauds do to test batteries?

I'm taking mine down later hopefully (if the fucker will start LoL) to get it tested as I fear it might be on the way out...

Has anyone had their's tested and what does it involve? How do they know if your battery's fooked or just flat??

I just want to know so I don't get conned into forking out for a new battery when I don't need one... :S

Yeah just a battery tester! Its a pretty decent one though. What happens is you out the ignition on, put headlights on, blower on full and rear heater on for a minute and then wait a minute. This takes away the residual charge from the journey you've just done which causes a false reading. Then you put the tester on and set the amps expected and press the enter button. Wiat for it to test and it will either come up fine, recharge, recharge and retest and replace. Also says what voltage and amps it actually has. Think it can also tell if its a dodgy cell but cant quite remember.

And yeah I used to work for them!

John is right, we probably use the same tester at Motor World and yes it can detect a bad cell on the battery

the main figure to look at is what amps its actually throwin out, and what it should be

use it as a guide, not something set in stone

plus, you have to enter what CCA the battery your testing is, so its very easy to alter the results

They're not great.

A flat battery will show up as dead and they'll replace it - not "Go and charge it" Heh.
