what do you guys think?

;) went to a garage today to ask about fitting some lowering springs and was told id be better to get the originals cut? :S thought the geezer was talking s**t so i went to another garage and they said the same, said it would a, save me money and b, just getting springs is a waste of money as my originals cut would do the same job?

i remember some1 saying about this on here b4? what do you all wreckon, after all whats the worst can happe, they get fooked and i buy some springs anyway ;) :rasp:

Worst that can happen is your driving a long and your car drives itself into a ditch lol.
It can and has been doing but it's not something i'd ever do it's potentially lethal and will fail an mot aswell.
Their talking crap springs ain't dear anyhow

humm, cutting springs usually means grinding away, which heats the metal and causes annealing, which means it has a lower tensile strenght, go with new lower springs

I would not recommend cutting the springs. Lowering ones are only about £40+. Cant believe 2 garages told you that you should just cut your original springs!

yea i kow, £80 for a full set but i thought why pay when they can do that lol, so you wouldnt reccomend it, and why wouldnt it pass a mot, would they be able to tell?

thats what i thought, when the first one said it i was shocked but to hear it from too, lol, they did say they could do it 4 me? :S

where can i get lowering springs for £40????

not bad, how low does it look, what wheels have you got on yopurs? any pics? mine is stripped to fook and is sitting like a 4x4 at the minute and im only running 15's so was looking for 60mm, but if these look good ill get some of these,

Fooking get back to the garages and give em some s**t...bloody monkeys!!

Loads of my mates have cut their springs but can be dangerous.... they cna tell on an m.o.t 'cos the springs are cut and welded back together iirc si they'll see the welding joints!!

Kiza

The way ive been told is you cut the spring in the middle and twist it down so its lower and then weld it back together again!!

Also if you was to slam the clio the rear tyre would sit in the arch by about 5mm i think!!

Kiza

60mm are the lowest you'll get in springs!! Take ad's advice if i was you mate... looks like a good ride on his car!!

Not sure on that as you've stripped it...i would have thought you've got to have some difference as the springs are more compressed!!

If i was you though id just save for the H&R's...

yea i am but the 172 conversion is on the cards first so its all going into that, an i get 172 suspension with it so ill use that for a bit, just i was a bit embaressed at the bluwater meet as mine looked like a monster truck next to a;ll the other lush clios lol

cut springs!! you mad  why would companys make lowering springs if you could just cut them? stupid pikey garages!

i know, well stay away from them people, one was at the top of new hythe lane, kent and the other just of the one way in maidstone,

Its all in the patients mate.... i would honestly think stuff it and get saving!! That £40 or so could go to some H&R's

but in the mean time look down on everyone else lol, its either some budget springs or some step ladders to get into the beat, its killing my back lol

Lol its your choice mate!!! Cant see springs making that much of a difference with a stripped out interior but im not 100% sure...
