what else needs done?

im looking to buy a clio 182 in the next 2 months and wondering what i will need to factor into the price i pay for a car, i know the timing belt needs done every 50K odd miles or 5 years but what else should i do at the same time? i have read something about a dephaser but not sure really, would it just be the pully or the solinoid and seal also?

sorry for what may seem a silly question but i dont know alot about these cars yet

Cambelt interval is 5 years or 72k I think, whichever comes first.

Aux belt is every 36k.

Most people go for the full aux and cambelt change, with the new tensioners and pulleys for both belts. And also (I did) some people take the opportunity to get the dephaser changed at this point as well, sometimes they start to get noisy for whatever reason, I think its lack of oil changes in its lifetime. So its just a choice thing but some specialists do reccomend it.

Water pump is run on the aux belt and again if what I remember is right they dont fail like the 1.2 pumps do. So worst comes to worse if it did fail it would be a new pump and aux belt change, not a cambelt off change like the 1.2's. (basically doesnt need changing)

thanks thats great, how much does it usualy cost roughly for the belts pullys and dephaser to be changed? also is it just the dephaser pully needed of the solinoid and seal aswell?

Join the forum mate, and look in traders section, they all have a price list, for full job it will be between 500 and 600 depend on the car (AC or not)
