What engine will I be getting

Hi guys (& gals!),

Id appreciate a bit of help re the engine in the 1.2 16v clio extreme 4 Ive just ordered.

Before I test drove the Extreme demo car I test drove a 1.2 16v Expression. When I opened the bonnet, the engine clearly states it was a 1.2 16v. When I took out the Extreme and looked under the bonnet there were no markings on the engine at all, just a black plastic cover. The dealer has assured me its a 1.2 16v engine in the Extremes, but he didnt know why the engine was different. When I drove it it seemed the same power as in the Expression, maybe just a little less wheezy and smoother?

Any ideas greatfully received!

Surely the only way to do it is match the engine codes.

Look at the V5 logbook of both cars. If the first 3-4 letters match up with 1 another the engines are exactly the same.

There may be another way of checking but this is what i would do.

Yeehar, youve gone and f**ked up the thread. Delete your link as it dont work anyway:oops:

Thanks for your replies. It just seems a bit strange that the engine doesnt look like the one in the Expression. Ive also had a look in the latest Clio brochure (Oct 04) - the 1.2 16v engine still looks like the one in the Expression i.e. 1.2 16v emblazed across it! Could Renault have updated the engine in such a short space of time?

ren changed the 1.2 16v engine in the 04 clios, the previous one has a silver engine cover saying 1.2 16v the new one doesnt - the newer one is suppost to be much better the 99 - 03 version has many many faults
