What exhaust to go with.... Clio 182

  Clio 182, Megane 225
Shopping around and there's too much choice!

What do you guys have and why?
Looking at boosting in the future so would it be worth waiting and go for a custom build?

Cheers

I can't recall seeing anyone say they went custom on a boosted clio, so any off the shelf exhaust will do.
I've an RS192 with cat. It's ok not too loud and has a nice burble. The new centre section has a flexi to try prevent the problem between centre and cat cracking.

I've looked at the RS192 and the Ktec centreline super sports and I'm stuck between the two! At the moment it has a bodged backbox on it and it rattles. When I have my Megane I had a Milltek and it was shite

I have

2.25 ktec with unsilenced centre and decat. Both of which were made. Sounds great.

I had a milltek catback with decat which wasnt too loud and had a nice tone, i had to go custom when i got boost tho as the exhaust sounded like a 1.0l corsa, the turbo acts like a silencer on the exhaust and it was as quiet as a mouse, the custom is a straight pipe to one small rear silencer with decat and it still isnt loud enough for me, its probably 'just right' for most tho.

If boosting in the near future then wait and go custom, If boosting is still a pipe dream then the RS197 with decat is a nice option. I have this myself and it was only 87db at 3/4 revs at Aintree last week so not OTT.

Sound clip below inside the car, only other mod noise wise is fatty induction.

I think I may go for the scorpion exhaust now, not over the top sounds ace. Plus I'm glad you overtook that civic!

Nice one mate. Piper one seems to cost more than most of the systems available guessing you get what you pay for? Anyone got pure motorsport system?

If it's a road car I wouldnt bother paying the premium for pure motorsport one.

I had a ktec 2.25 supersports on my old 182 and it sounded good when giving it some but pottering around it sounded a bit naff, wish I'd spent the extra on the 2.5 version.

The Piper on my 182 was quieter and less droning with decat than with the Piper cat.

I've just got a standard cat at the moment but its sagging at the olive joint which I had welded up. Thinking of trying a decat and if it's too loud, sell it on and just get a pipe welded onto the cat.

Is the supersports the silenced version. I wouldn't want mine any louder tbh

Nah supersports is straight through.

However I did buy both centre sections to play about with. Best combination was sports centre section with a decat.

Supersports with decat was just silly loud lol.

Comparison I did a few years back with supersports cat and decat. Never did one with sports + decat but it was defiantly the best option for sound.

Just from a different perspective. I have a Piper. The first one was not straight and they wouldn't believe me and were rubbish about it to the point I gave up. Then it snapped! So I got in contact again and they agreed eventually to replace it and look at the fact it was never straight. They never replied but must have agreed as they sent me a new exhaust after i returned mine. Then they had the cheek to invoice me! And guess what, it snapped again. This time I've had it welded rather than deal with them again. I wish I never had a Piper exhaust! I honestly loath them. I'm a decent person who spent a lot of money on one of their exhausts and have had issue after issue complimented by shite/lacking customer service.
If you search this forum I am not the only to have had a misaligned Piper exhaust. However I think these days they have sorted that issue as my latest exhaust is a comepletry different design and aligns but still it doesn't make up for the grief that is there customer service, invoicing me for a replacement exhaust after mine snapped and was never aligned properly, and the new one failing withthin months.

Some seem to have success with them but for me they make my blood boil. I doo not recommend them and seeing them recommended makes me feel sick!

Rant over.

See this is a big problem I have! I don't think you can win either way, I use to have a 197 and went with a Milltek exhaust and after a year it was blowing really bad. Took it to tony banks exhaust specialist told them what happened and before I could tell them the exhaust make they was like "guessing it's a Milltek system, we get them all the time for repair" but when I had the Megane I had a Milltek for over two years and not a problem. I've heard people complain about Scorpion exhaust cracking and the hangers coming off, but then I've got a mate who's used scorpion for years and not had a problem. Problem with companies that mass produce these systems they are going to get quite afew crap ones that manage to get through to sell

Scorpion now come with the flexi joint = no more cracked welds.

I had the Scorpion SRN019 or whatever it's called with the centre silencer. It was loud and boomy below 2500 revs and really boomy when you lifted off the throttle. Can't believe that's the quieter one. I eventually removed the back section and (with a bit of modification) refitted a standard rear boxes.
Sounds miles better and I'm not embarrassed in traffic.
