RA2... and in Dec you can buy the software upgrade to show you the speed limts... But the compact does that anyway... Any of the 2 would be good but the bigger one looks better.

^^ Cool didnt know that. Will have to get that (although I bet its a rip off) Its the only thing I feel the RA2 needs.

^^ yeah... as you say, it was the one that would finish the RA2 off and thankfully they realised that... the amount of times i panic and think back to my theory test when approaching a camera.... Think i know most of my stuff but a while ago i got caught doing 42mph in a 30mph limit when i thought it was a 40. It was a dualed road and out of town..... luckly, the police rader gun broke when he tried to show me the speed and i got away with it.....haha. Lesson learnt though.

RA2 is about £350 in the shops and i got it for £310 new off ebay

RA Compact does exactly the same as RA2 but it also shows you the speed limits...(which the RA2 will do soon) Its display is slightly different (less info etc...) and is obviously smaller. From what i have seen it doesnt seem as good quality build as the RA2 but is still a good bit of kit.... and all for around £200. When i bought my RA2, the compact wasnt out so thats why i dont have it. TBH i dont know why the RA2 is so much more expesive then the compact.... Anyone enlighten me as to why?

It might be worth looking at the snooper s4 neo aswell i think its a good thing it gives more info than the road angle .Like what speed you should be doing coming up to a camera and what camera it is .All the RA2 say is fixed camera but there is two types one that will get you coming towards it and one when you go by my snooper tell you what one it is my dad has a RA2 and i have used it a bit had my snooper s4 neo for about 18 months and do about 1000 miles a week good peice of kit IMHO:star:

mate, i was in halfords the other day to buy one of these, decided to get either the origin b2, RA2, or RA compact. decided to go for the compact as it was such good value for money..

never felt a RA2 but the compact does feel quite cheap, but its small and neat, and tells you the speed limits. i think the only difference is you need to buy the laser detector separate for the compact? i might be wrong though?

i didnt go for it as the guy in the shop said its not worth the extra £50. he said it will only pick up the mobile vans when they target you, and by that time you only have 0.8 seconds to react.. could be rubbish info but this is what the salesman told me! lol

still havent properly updated it yet and it has picked up all cameras so far, and even warned me about where mobile vans sometimes sit, blackspots, school zones, and average speed zones.. brilliant value for money, specially when i can only get 6 points on my liscense

hope this helps

only thing i find annoying about the compact is, when you are approaching a camera, under the speed limit, it still bleeps and flashes etc. im sure this can be turned off somehow, but havent figured it out yet. it would be much better if it only beeped when you were above the limit, but still flashed and spoke..

sorry to dig this up, I'm seriously thinking about getting one, the ra2 compact seems a steal at £200- one thing though on the normla ra2 whats does the laser bit do ? as the compact doesn't have it.
can they pick up police cars too ?? as often I clock the police when i'm a bit happy with the loud pedal.

The laser detector on the RA2 beeps if a coppers trying to get to clock your speed with a speed-gun, to tell you the truth it's only alerted me once on the motorway when a copper was sat on a bridge trying to pick people up on his laser-gun. Other times it's gone off when it picks up some interference from something, normally when passing lorries on the motorway.
I'd probably go for the compact, cos you rarely see the old-bill using speed-guns anymore, they tend to rely on the cameras more and more.

I have an RA2, but if I was buying now it would have to be the Road Angel Compact for that money.

What i'm trying to say (all be it badly) is say i'm going faster that i should be, will it pick up a police car before i see it & i get clocked ?

Depends how the ploice car spots you. If they have a laser gun then it should do providing you dont have a heat reflecting windscreen and similarly with vans... however you will have to be fast as lightning on the middle pedel when you hear the beeping as it can take them as little as 0.3 secs to get a reading back.. sometimes a good few secs. If they are following you then prob no chance of it detecting them.

If they spot you far away you have a good chance it will pick them up.... if very close then prob not as they point at the number plate due to it being vertical to the ground and will miss the dash mounted sensor. I have an additional sensor under the numberplate behind the grill. Cant see it no matter how hard you try and it has worked before with no ticket so well happy.

I would still look out for regular & unmarked cop cars as well as vans as much as you would do normally. Speed cameras are not such a worry as i hasnt failed me yet. Would not trust it for laser though...

cool thanks for that. I think i'm going to get an ra2 compact.
where did you get the additional sensor from ? and how does it wire in ?

Has

  RS 182 - Black Gold
There is an additional Unit for the RA2 compact to make it laser friendly. It simply plugs in.

When the new software comes otu for the full size RA2 there will be extra features which will nto be on the compact version so make your choice carefully.

If you need help or any pricing on Camera Units please feel free to PM me. I will have a new price list up soon to......in the meantime no speeding :nono:

Got it online off one of the internet shops for around £50 and got a local ICE intsatllation company to hard wire it in. They were going to put it directly under the no. plate but it looked shi*e so i managed to get it done behind the grill..about 30 mins work.

all laser detectors do not work quick enough to help you. very sure that laser works so dam quickly that by time detector has gone off or even realised your being targeted copper has your speed on his gun

True... but the laser detector also picks up whats called "scatter" which is the beam when fired at vehicles in front of you, and sometimes the detector can take a bit longer to get a reading when its struggling to get a reading back due to external factors etc...

Its a bit of a gamble but what you are saying is generally right; i would say its a slightly expensive addition for a feature that is not 100% effective. Just a helping hand which we def need on UK roads. lol

really ?
surely if they were no good they wouldn't sell loads of them & people would be taking them back for a refund.

They dont really sell them seperatly, just as additions so not really an issue. They do what they say; detect laser. Explained above how they can and cant work.

LRC100 jams the signal too

Yeah.... apparently they work very well. Was offered one by a freind in the industry but highly illegal. when they jam the signal, the coppers know and could track you down i would imagin.
