What happens if the refred the rear bolt that goes through the shock going into the hub? and what can be done to fix it?

you would need to re tap it

i would also be getting a bolt to bolt on the inside of the axel to be double sure (depending on how chewed the original thread is)

Halfords....you only need a tap if you are cutting an internal thread....
