Shortly before I joined this site, and found a guide on how to do it properly, I thought I'd wing it myself, and by it I mean interior lighting.

I wired in some interior leds from where the Cigarette lighter was being powered, cut it off the lighter and put them into connector blocks and then onto some spades to connect to a switch, and then onto the LED's. They light up fine right, but the problem comes where I turn on my headlights. They turn off on que.
Like, Ill turn my headlights on, LED's go off straight away. Turn the lights off and theyre right back on.

What the hell have I done haha

Sounds to me like you may have crossed some of the wires? (Thats about as technical as i get TBF)

Why would you want loads of light in the cockpit if you're driving at night? Unless you drive using The Force.

It's all psychological, this way I can atleast pretend I am

sounds like you have connected the leds across the 2 positives in the cigarette lighter

so without the lights on the lighter isnt lit so the low power leds use that as a negative then once it is lit with the lights on they are both positive so the leds go off

Hope you get it sorted, maybe you can get some pictures up of the effect. At the moment my mind is turning images of something truly awful, please prove me wrong.

Which wires did you connect to?

It should have been blue for positive and black for negative and they will only work with the sidelights/lights on.

I have all my lights connected to that and the interior main light and it works fine
