  Willy2

kept up with a CLK compressor around some naughty bends, on the straights he would have caned me, VTRs on a regular basis.

i nearly overtook a boxster down a twisty road near me once. he was trying, but i think either he didnt know the road at all or he was just a sh*t driver cos he was all over the place in the corners.

I havent had a chance of full on races, but ive managed to keep up with much more exotic machinery around my favourite roads by brands hatch. Ive been all over an FTO, various engined E36 BMWs, and the best of the lot, a Hyundai Scoupe :)

Tim - How would you rate the fit/ finish and general reliabilty of the Noble. Also, do yo know when theyre bringing out the more track biased models? Cheers

KDF

  Audi TT Stronic

Beemers

A Scooby (dont know which one it was debaged)

106s of various forms

a 306 HDI (chuckle)

Ford Focus ST170

I had this toyota pick up following me last night, It tried to over take so I booted it, I was already in 5th but he still couldnt pass me. He eventually caught me up in traffic and the firms name on the side was Skyline ! Made me laugh as I toasted a Skyline in a 1.2 ;-)

Rob

The fit/finish on the Noble is very good, better than a TVR definately, although not quite up to Ferrari standards. The track model with sequential shift and running higher boost is actually available to order now, wont be a standard production model though. Price has yet to be finalised but dont expect much change from £70k. I have considered that but am selling the M12 now for something that will run rings around it on the track :)

best was a scooby on a twisty wet road..

got caned by a modded one though.

Jonto, whats and sti (old shape) in std spec? cause thats what it was...

If it was a classic shape STi it could be anything from an STI 1 to STI 6 - not many ones or twos about so if standard it would be 276bhp provided it was run on superunleaded and octane booster. No offence but the scooby you "wasted" was probaly and uk spec and a sh*t driver to boot ! Not taking anything away, cups are quick !

Rob - think about what you have just said ! I dont know any 5 year olds that even drive, let alone drive an impreza quickly !

I dunno Jonto im on scoobynet quite a lot and im sure there are 5 year olds claiming to own imprezas on there (mental age anyway);)

MK2 16V Gti

My cousins westfield (before it was properly tuned)

Bug eyed scoob

VTS / VTR

G reg 325 X 2

More but its 6 months since my car left me.

loada cars in my valver,

in my cup quite a few but ones that i can think of at the mo:

PRELUDE (he was well impressed) he thought he was the nads with his japo stickers on the door
VTS
Rover 220 turbo
Cooper S ish, we were muckin about not a proper race, but i wouldve won!
new 325 beemer (a punk young driver thought he was a bad boy cuttin up old ladies!)
One of them huge new mercs big engined kompressor thing, it was rapid tho!
almera gt things 2.0
Oh and my mates Sierra fully tuned saph cossie! 4x4, altho he stalled! LOL!

I just drove my dads M3 back to the house and got beaten by a nova! lol, i pressed the sport button at the lights and the old SMG gearbox was so vicious it *made* me miss 2nd

in a moment i still cannot believe or understand, a Porsche 968 Clubsport that absolutely could not pass my 172 from a standing start, despite his engine sounding like the pistons were about to shoot through the bonnet at any moment. We got up to about 70mph, then I slowed as we going to soon be entering a 40mph zone. Maybe beyond 70mph, he would have taken off, but until that point, he was deeply humbled.

As I had my butt whipped in the Golf once by an old fart driving a Toyota Picnic (a Picnic!), this kinda redresses the balance. :D

Might be a fake clubsport, 968 coupes id 0-60 in 6.5 and 155mph so it might be close. Thats all i can think of, turbos did 0-60 in 4.1! Clubsports were non turbo but uprated to around 270bhp..not sure how fast they were.

I had a tusstle with an FTO GPX, it was close, but I was going steady in 3rd then he booted it up my arse so I dragged the revs from about 3k upto redline, I should of put it into 2nd gear, Live and learn!!

Im sure I could of out paced him but im still learing how to drive my Cup, (1600 miles so far) Its way different than waiting for a sea of tourque coming from a MR2 Turbo, you have to be much more of a hooligan in the CUP.

I sometimes feel that im almost killing the engine but you guys say nail it so I do!

Thank god for my 3 year warranty

Scott

You sure? MR2 Turbos are balls out cars, for the hairy chested only, i wouldnt say they were good but defintely a challenge, a cup is a doddle in comparison!

I blew away a 300bhp Scooby, then met the owner / driver the following week, dam nice bloke. He even posted it on Scoobynet just after the little run in.

Others include a Boxter S, wouldnt let me past first of all so I went round the outside of him coming off a roundabout and buy the time I got to 160 he was a small dot in my rear mirror.

Beemer M3 had a go and was actually quite quick, until my second turbo came on line and I strolled past.

I tryed to get a Carrera turbo to play but he wasnt interested, so Ive yet to test a Porker turbo.

I think i can remember you name, it seems familiar. The are a few idiots on scoobynet, but on the otherside there are a lot of people on there who are very decent and know a thing or two about cars

I dont like to post about cars Ive beaten these days as you get a lot of "I dont believe you". Most of the time I race cars from standstill at the Severn Bridge tolls - nearest thing there is to 1/4 miling on the open road (ten lanes go into three on the flat over about a 1/3 mile):

Audi TT 225bhp - very surprised given the 4WD; I pulled two cars on him from a perfect (my best ever I reckon) standing start. Had the correct wheels/exhaust/quattro badging. Very close.

530i - dead impressed as he was trying and I had a passenger (Smoothed Clio).

106 GTi - the guy I bought my car froms new car! - would make a very good match up to the legal limit for a standard 16v.

Saab 9-3 3.0 V6 TDi - my mates new car, was pushing me out of the roundabouts though!

Mk1 172 - the closest match Ive ever come across.

Lost to many motorbikes; Mat Browns 2.0 tuned 16v in terms of top speed; was with an old GS300 Lexus up to 120, when he pulled away nicely!

rob, although it looked the part, you may be right about that 968 cs - theres no logical explanation as to why I beat him.

The MR2 Turbo puts the power down so nice in the dry, its much different from the torque steer of the Cup.

I do prefer the cup as its easier for me as an average driver to go fast without crashing.

Scott

Not in the wet though, i saw two crashed ones (one completely wrecked) in the snow a couple of weeks back.

Sounds like a cool car barry, is a an import being the auto?

Motorbikes are easy prey..

It is an Auto, yes. But there are just as many Jap manuals out there too. The rare ones are the UK 6 speeds, most UK ones are either auto or later ones are tiptronic.

Bikes... Thats a hard one. They are alot quicker off the mark, but I did have a tussle with an R1 last week and over 130 I was pulling away. Anything under than and he could quite easily stay with me. But flooring it from around 50 ish, he would pull out a bit on me. Alot closer than I thought though.!
