What have you raced

Just a Interesting topic (well I think so). What has everyone on here had a little traffic light grand prix with? (not going above 30MPh of Course Officer)

What have you guys beaten and what have you lost out to?? Any nasty surprises. Mine would have to be a 2.0 Turbo Nova saloon (he whooped my ass!!)

Just interested to see what the little 16V, Willy, 172, RT, RSis are capable off!!!! Not a macho thing. Just people say different things about performance and I think a lot of it is down to the driver!!

An RB5 from one set of lights to the next down the dragstripin Southend, right outside the police station. About 4 sets of lights altogether?

Lost half a length on every start, kept up easily once rolling, outbraked him to the lights. That was running nitrous though. But at the time, I did have a broken driveshaft hanging off that had shed its bearings into the gearbox, if that makes it sounds any more macho?

Had a good race with an old VTR. I was following him up to a roundabout, we were both carrying a bit of speed and we went left onto a 3-4 mile stretch of dual cariageway. I didnt pass him but I was stuck to his bumper for the whole stretch, he was two up tho, I could see his passenger kept turning round to see where I was!

Another one was a Vectra of some description. We were following some old dear in a clio that was doing about 30 in a 60 zone. Anyway she turned off so I decided that I was going to go for it to get away from this Vectra. I could see in my wing mirror that he was pulling out into the next lane to get past so I floored and he couldnt get past after about 150 yards he pulled back in behind me. When I looked in my mirror he didnt look very happy!!

Been well and truly toasted by a Meastro turbo! Should have known from the stripped out interior and rally style exhaust note that he meant business!! Oh well.

Had loads, win the majority. The ones that have beaten me include:

Modified Cosworths - 280 bhp+

P1 - 310 bhp

911 Turbo

Modified Twin Turbo Supra

All of the above caned me convincinly, although I have had a couple of good races with 2 std. cosworths.

Had a close run with Nick Reed running his NOS - was very close indeed !

Yeah did I still dont know who was quicker? My ignition cut out for some reason but it was a top race along the A127 and A130!

got beat by jon 2 live on sat he did make 149bhp @ wheels though, been beaten by a nissan 300zx , raced a porche boxster down the lancs upto about 120 i wasnt far behind neither

raced a lancia delta he got alongside but couldnt seem to get past he did have a car full though

pulled a good cars length on a vts, nuthing in it beween a 306gti-6

raced an imprezza i got on the power before he did but he couldnt catch me up and overtake and he gave me a thumbs up and mouthed "very nice" wen he got alongsidewhich i was very chuffed with

beat a v6 vectra, nova gsi, golf gti, punto gt and a new punto hgt and a escort cab with turbo power, couple of bmws but its not easy to tell what engines in em had a good race down the mway with a 325 (i think )i pulled away up to 100 when he started reelin me in he got past at 120

I must explain that I regularly use the Severn Bridge - which has tolls for 10 lanes and then goes to three lanes over about 1/4 miles. Its the best place to race cars off the mark!

Anyway, to the case in hand:

Closest: Mk1 172. Neck and neck to *00 off standing start. Nowt in it at all, though he did get a head start.

Surprise beat: BMW 530i. On a motorway with passenger (Smoothed Clio, aka Pete). Nice to actually pull ahead at *00!!

Loss: Matt Browns 2.0 Clio 16v. Well, on top speed anyway! Had a good time beating an MGZR160 together!
