What Head Unit?

  Nissan Jewk
For around the £200 mark? Currently have a JVC AVX-33 DVD Unit, but to be honest, I don't need anything like that. Just want someone bluetooth for hands free and ipod ready, but something of a good standard. Any recoomendations and any to avoid?

Thanks :)

Recently purchased myself a Sony MEX BT3700U.. Got for to a bargain off fleabay but brand new they are around £180 (Halfrauds sell them).
It has Bluetooth (people say that the Sony suck for this and Alpine are better, IMO I think the Sony is sh!t hot really)
Plays MP3, ACC, WMA... CD, CD-R Compatable (MP3 Disc)
Works with iPod.. Using the existing iPod cable (no special cables etc)
Plays from USB Pendrive
AUX Jack on the front
52w x 4 Amp
3 x Preouts
Come with a remote too..
Full specs if you google, but for me this is a great little Headunit!

Impressed with mine, Alpine CDE-104BTi. £190 with full iPod/iPhone control and charging. Look in discounts page for free delivery from car audio direct IIRC, worked out cheapest from them this way.

iPhone/iPod control is excellent, just like going through it on the thing itself. Hit one button then select to browse through playlists/artists/songs/etc then select the playlist/artist/song etc you want and then the song to start with. Very easy to use, then it just operates like a CD. Also used the satnav on my iPhone whilst connected and it works a treat.

This Alpine has built in parrot kit. Impressed with mine, mic is attached inbetween the steering wheel and speedo. Easy to see who's calling and pick up. Calling can take a while as you scroll through, a bit speedier as you can skip through the alphabet, not tried voicedial as it wouldn't work with the iPhone, new update might help but I'm JB'd. Can also select who to call on the phone and select to play through the HU if you want.

Only issue I've had on mine is getting the best balance of sound on mine, although I've not read the manual yet as its on CD but the quality is fantastic, better than my Sony with BBE processing.

I would also recommend the Alpine CDE-104BT. I use it with a Blackberry for handsfree and it is great for receiving calls, though a bit of a pain scrolling through the names to find a number to dial. I use it sometimes for voice activated dialling which is OK, but I need to press voice dial on the phone and the headset at just the right time to get it to work. When it does work though it always recognises the name first time everytime. Ipod operation as mentioned is brilliant, very similar to using the ipod controls. Sound quality is great as well.:approve:
