What is an Acoustic Valve?

Ive seen a lot of references to this on this fine forum. What does it do? Where is it? what effect to removing it have?

Im running a 172 Cup, bit quicker than my old 1.4RT......

In that link right there, the pic showing the engine bay with stuff removed...

As anyone will know from trying this, with the acoustic valve removed it makes an awesome induction noise from the whole where the pipe was once placed.

not sure what you mean AstoN i removed my valve and blocked the vacum pipe but i take it you mean you actually disconnected the pipe from the air box? if you did then yeah the induction noise is quite loud but i removed the valve but left the cold air feed in so the 2nd feed is at least a little awat from the hot engine bay.
