what is the ultimate mk2 172...........

.......... tyre pressures for a track day? dont need to know the standard tyre pressures, but the ultimate pressures if you was setting the 172 up to race around the Nurb. Ring ? (cant spell that) as the road is not as perfect as a race track, please advise...anyone that does track days or has raced around the N.Ring.. what tyre pressures are the best?

This is for a friend of mine that would like help with this as soon as poss. as after asking around he has had various answers that differ from one another.. some say higher some say lower!

What pressure front and back would give the ultimate handling for uneven surfaces at top speed?

Cheers everyone.

thats the thing mate, theres no set level for "optimum" performance

some people think its wise to pump 3-4psi more into them, whereas i prefer remove 2-3psi

The ring is very smooth (and its spelt Nurburgring)

Nothing to do with the track, or even the car, but Im currently running my 182Cup at 35/31. I think 34/31 felt better though.

Cheers, he is gonna call me later to ask me what u guys suggested.. as was sure a few of you peeps have raced around the Nurburgring already in 172s?

He said he did see a Cup pass Clarkson when Carkson was in the Diesel Jag on the ring on Top Gear once! lol.. so u were the guys to ask.

Would be good to give him some sort of help?

yeah the guy passing clarkson was edd, hes a nutter

id stick with std pressures on the ring

Cheers for the info, I kinda thought standard pressures in the manual are what Reno give you for everyday A - B driving around at law abiding speeds? hell be going flatt out most of the time.. way above the law abiding speed.

yeah but also remember when you get heat in the tyres the pressures will rise anyway

my ideal setup on the front is anywhere between 27-33psi

and the rear i leave at around 25-27psi

but thats suited to my driving style, hell have to experiment with what suits him
