What looks the MEANEST ! 172/valver

  megane coupe F7R

Valver wins hands down. Proper old skool hard core look. Bonnet and flared archers just make it look mean. 172 just looks like any other clio. I often look at a 1.2 clio go past thinkin it was a 172 for a second. Tight arse renault should of made a distinctive change to the 172 like they did with the valver

Ive never mistaken a 1.2 for a 172.If you knew your cars that would be a very silly mistake to make, they look nowt like each other.

Valver all the way, they actually "look fast" which is a major thing when buying a sporty car IMO.

To who ever said a valver looks like an RT with a bonnet bulge you need to go to spec savers my friend. Try wider archs, wider track, different front and rear bumpers, different exhaust, bigger wider wheels, spoiler and splitter to name some of the differences.

Not to mention they came in limited colours - wont see a 449 Sports Blue RT!

I agree with the night comment though, those mk2/ph2 lights look great in the dark.

Not many cars on the road look meaner than a Vee though.

If youve ever seen under a valver bonnet - by that I mean the actual bonnet youll see the bulge has a reason, it takes air in and diverts it back to the front of the engine bay near the inlet manifold.

VALVA!! ...and ur right about the bonnet ^^^ !!!:D 172s are nice but id have to agree about looking too similar to rest of the range

Oh... rodg16v i dont know if this is intentional but the vent seems to be inline with the manifold so maybe they r trying to keep it cooler or sumfin ? ? lol

Think the vent was for both looks and to cool the manifold. They could of made it alot more subtle if they wanted.

Concerning the valver bonnet, do u think renault did it for looks or other reasons ??

Prob both, the valver bonnet vent is there to divert air down onto the exhaust manifold, as i think the brake lines run just behind the heatshield

I

Same differences between a standard Clio and a Renaultsport Clio now. Minus bulge, plus sideskirts. Colours are also exclusive to Renaultsport.

The new gen RS Clios dont have butch flared wings though. Its hard to tell a standard Clio and an RS appart now.

Where as before its obvious whats a genuine valver and whats not.

To me the difference between an ordinary MK1 Clio and a Valver/Willy is as obvious as a normal Escort and an Escort Cossie due to the wider corners.

  The Jinx

They dropped a bollock now giving the 172 at least wider rear arches, and definitely a bulge. Maybe the marketing strategists decided a more toned down look would appeal to a greater range of people, ie oldies and women.

New ones do have bigger wings than the non RS cars theyre just not angular flared wings like on the 16v.

Valver

Looks old. 172/182 takes it all day long :D And whats all this sh*t about 172/182 looking like every other Clio in the range? Only if youre blind ;)

Haha.

172 Vs Valver/Williams.

Gotta love it..

You cant tell me a Black Dynamique which has been lowered, coming about 100m behind ya dont look like a 172.

  Clio 190bhp Hybrid

Flared arches and bonnet bulge will always win it for the valver. 172s and 182s are quick but dont look too different from lesser same shape clios. People recognise a Valver and Willy instantly, even if they do think a Valver is a Willy some of the time.

Sames as the old scabby ones..... black hides the lines of any car, not just the clio...

  Mk2 Golf GTI

I can tell a 172 from a standard straight away and from a distance.

Find it harder to tell a valver from an RT as most RTs near me have the valver bonnet anyway.

Anyhow f**k looks, standard for standard the new clio will pace the old one!!

And anyone who thinks ther valver is quicker than a 172/182 should say that again when the latter car in question has the same amount of money spent on mods.

  Willy, Willy 2, V6

back on subject :)

deffo the valver looks meaner, but imo the 172/new clio wotever looks much more refined.

  Clio 182

I prefer the look of the valver, but I have one, so would say that. The new Clios look too conservative for a hot hatch imho.

LOL they should have included scissors, clippers, hair rollers, a hair dryer, combs and brushes with the new clios..(bar v6)

Valver is far meanerand attracts more attention on the highway.... so many new clios that are owned by chavish individuals...

Valver without a doubt. Anyway, the people have spoken. Look back through the thread, count the votes for the old school, and theres a huge majority there in favour of the valver/Willys wide arches and bonnet vent. If 172/182 owners all felt so strongly that theirs was the meaner looking car, theyd all be on here voting wouldnt they, theres enough of them in Cliosport! The fact is that the new Clios DO all look very similar, which is a shame. IMHO Renault made a big mistake by not differentiating the 172 more than they did from the rest of the range or offering a few bright colours that were not available to the rest of the range, like Audi do with their S and RS cars.

And btw, I think the mk1 172 looks a lot meaner than the mk2 which looks like a ladys shopping car. When the 172 came out I could tell them apart from the rest of the new Clios because 1. they were all silver 2. they had decent rims 3. they looked slightly different. The mk2s with the triangle headlights just look bland to me (sorry mk2 owners!) and similar to all the other sporty looking Clios.

To this day, if you see a valver or a Willy on your travels, it looks mean. Check out the rear view and it looks much wider than any RT and definitely lowered. A 172/182 just looks like a 1.2 with a Renault Sport badge.

Nick Read, your talking s h i t e!

There are loads more old tatty Clios owned by chavish individuals. Theyre far cheaper and much more in the chav price range. FACT.

Valvers look meaner, without a doubt. Very few have said otherwise.

If I couldnt have afforded a new one, I would have bought a Williams, no question.

lol Nick what you like.

182 - exhaust, wheels and colours not on any other Clios ;) You couldnt tell your arse from your elbow sometimes ;)

as much as i love 172s i gotta say that valvers definatly look more aggressive, especially from the front with the wide arches and the bonnet scoop!!!!

im not bein biest thats just my thoughts
