i hit a kerb due to a lorry and have since had my car checked over by my renault specialist and he has done the tracking but the steering wheel is slightly out *sits at 11 o' clock when im goin straight instead of 12.he said i have pushed the steering rack through which would have caused 1 side to be pointing one way more than the other but nothing is bent.what do i need to do to rectify this?

ta matt

Either get the garage to do the tracking right or else you need to find out whats bent usualy its the track arms which are bent and any gasage should have pointed this out when they did the tracking and told you replacment costs etc.

when garage wants a fast easy job, they do the tracking on 1 side of the car and not both.. for example they turn the wheel until the left wheel is pointing straight forward (this side is done!) and then do tracking on the right... voila , tracking is done !

You can't just "push" the arms through the rack, as theres the steering gear stopping it. Hence why stuff gets bent, how hard did you hit the curb? I'd be looking for a bent wishbone/ball joint/steering arm etc if thats the circumstances whatever this "specialist" says.

If nothing was bent and the tracking was done properly then it should drive straight.

I can come have a look if you want up to you, I did something very similar in my old 1.6 so I know what i'm looking for i've seen how and where they bend.
