What oil do you use?

  Black Gold Trophy
About to do an oil change, under the bonnet it says "renault recommends ELF" however when I go to my local renault parts supplier they give me some no name brand semi synthetic crap! Cant seem to find ELF anywhere and no way am I going to put semi synthetic in my engine!

What does everyone else use?

  t3 corolla 116bhp
castrol GTD magnatec for my dci :) but it seems alot of the 1*2 owners on here (correct me if im wrong) would reccommend millers?

  A4 DTM/iceberg cup
182 oil is Elf Excelium LDX 5W40

thats what i put in mine. hard as to get hold of (but i have my ways). makes the engine sound a lil rougher as i believe is pretty thin stuff (had something else in when i got her. a guy i have previously worked with worked for renault alongside elf developing these oils and the stuff is pretty good. apparantly they tested it over something like 40k miles and it lost 25% of its viscosity.

aint paying their prices for anything haha.

get 2 litres for a fiver if i use my puppy dog eyes lol

  Megane 225
I used shell helix 5w40 that I got from a guy who works on Aston's. They're meant to be run on mobil oil, but apparently it's crap so his place use Shell!

  Clio 182
what about "COMMA Fully Synthetic Syner-G 5w-40" I can get 5l for about £20 :)

I know most oils are the same but just looking for some reassurance!
Used Comma oils before in my xsara vtr with good results but different type of engine!

I've used halfords oil before, thought it was actually alright, i think its rebranded castrol or something! What is the "recommended stuff"? ELF?
I cant understand why the numpty at renault thought Id be happy putting semi-synthetic in my 182!!

nah yours is a sport..

use silkolene pro s 5w 40 fully synthetic

everyone recommends it on here

that's what i use

Motul 8100 X-cess 5W40 fully synthetic is a cheaper option than the Silkolene at approx £30 for 5L compared to £50 for 5L with the Silkolene. It will be just as effective unless your at track days every weekend!

There's Fuchs (who own Silkolene anyway) Titan Supersyn 5W40 that's equally as good.

Definitely recommend Opie oils, the Oilman knows EVERYTHING about oil or certainly more than you'll ever need to know!

That's what I said lol, and yes they definitely do. There'll be a Fuchs logo top left of your Silkolene container I should think.
