What peoples views on this Oil ?

I tried a search but down here (In Egypt) its taking forever to display the results :(

The network must be quite crap.

So i'll ask instead just to annoy a few people :)

I was gonna refill my car with this stuff (Millers) when i fit my sandwich plate for my oil gauges and refit the new oil filter.

Or i found these as well.

I was gonna mail order the oil, but its just as easier to pick it up somewhere local when i get home.

I can also get Castrol Edge in 0w40,5w40 and 0w30 and 5w30. :S

I've also noticed 15w50 or 10w60.

Are these any good ?

I can also get Castrol GTX Magnatec 10-40 4ltrs for £20

Which is the best oil to use on the 172FF ?

When i've previously used magnatec its made it sound like a skeleton having a w**k in a biscuit tin. You want 5w40 fully synth of some variety.

The millers should be fine i'd have thought.

Ok Cheers Fred.

I'll probably go for the Millers stuff then.

What about Mobil 1 ?

Is the 0w40 to thin ?

Or am i better to go up a bit with the first digit ?

Meaning, 5w40 etc ?

the first number is how thick the oil is when cold so technically the smaller the number the better (0 thinnest, to 20 thickest)

the second number is how thick the oil is when at 100degC, 30 is too thin, 40 is spot on, 50 is too thick

understand?

thats the simple explanation

Edge 5W-30 is long life for VW's mate, its the wrong oil for the 172

if you thrash your car a lot i wouldnt be happy using a 5W-30
