What Plugs?

Hi all, thinking about changing my spark plugs, are the NGK one the only ones to get or are the Bosch FR78X's any good? Halfrauds say that these are ok, but I'm unsure. Advice please. Thanks.
 
As above, stick with NGK. They are around £36-£40.

Pretty sure G172 is selling them now.
 
Of course halfords would say they are ok, because that's what they sell.

Lal is right, G172 sells a set of 4 NGK for £36 posted, which is a very good price IMO
 
I need a set of these too!

Does anyone on here sell top quality oil and ignition leads for a discount too? Want to give it all to my mechanic so I know exactly whats going in my car!
 
Opie oils will be your best bet, they will even help you to pick the right oil as they do loads of different brands. As for the leads, if your just running a standard engine then the genuine leads will be more than up to the job. You could contact a number of suppliers on here for the leads.

If you look along the top toolbar for the forum there is a tab named 'Discounts' have a look on there and take your pick for a supplier.

Use a better mechanic. Any decent specialist would give you a warranty, but you won't get that if you supply parts. I won't use parts that don't come from me for this reason
 
Denso irridiums with the slightest trace of det (even during mapping) like to fall apart and leave tiny bits of very hard metal embeded in pistons and valves. NGK always.

Can't say I've ever heard of that. Plenty of big power Cossies and Focus RS's run on them mint!

Maybe it's just the Clio ones that like to die.
 
my experiences of them are using them on 200sx's. A few friends had them destroy sets of Forged pistons. We always ran NGK copper core plugs becuase of it (BCPR7ES usually) as they're bomb proof.

Most of the reason people have trouble with different plugs in clios is using Bosch ones, which are usually non resistor plugs so the coil is overloaded. The 200sx had 2 plugs recommended, a PFR6E-10 for cat equiped cars, or a BCPR6ES for non cat cars. They're interchangeable. I'd run coppers in my own clio happily, and have done in some friends cars with their knowledge with no issues, they just have a shorter change interval and need the gaps adjusting

That doesn't mean he's not a good mechanic, there's not many people I trust with my cars! I won't bore you with why I know he's up there among the best.

I just like to provide oil that is recommended by owners, and as the spark plugs are available cheaper here I would rather provide my own and save what he would charge as full retail plus his mark-up. He told me the plugs would be about £15 quid each plus VAT, so £72. I can provide them for half price, and we won't argue over any warranty on spark plugs or oil, I wouldn't be worried anyway.

I appreciate what your saying though, any proper 'parts' would be supplied by him.
 
When I serviced mine in the summer I think I paid 24 for a set of NGKs from the company I work for. If anyone is interested send me PM and I can get a price.

Few people i know had running issues with the Bosch plugs aswel, changed them to the NGK's and spot on

didn't really mean anyone in particular was bad, just that you should trust whoever you use to use the right stuff and it you don't then....well, find someone you do trust
