What speeds should i get in each gear

pah!!! my mate has got a BOG standard(excuse the pun)reno 19 but he can sum how hit a 100 in 3rd

oh buy the way its a 1.4 8v

thats cus it doesnt have a rev limiter.

it has a 7000 rev guage red line starts at 5500 but the needle just goes past that and points straight down it must be doing about 8500 it sounds like its going to blow but i just dont

he doesnt give a f**k he only payed £400 2 years ago

1st - 30mph

2nd - 58mph

3rd - 90mph

4th - Not pushed

5th 115mph

THIS WAS IN A 1993 1.4 CLIO RT!!!

Can someone tell me what could have been wrong (or right) with the car for it to do these speeds!? And no it wasnt a speedo fault as i was keeping up with 106 xsis in 3rd and absolutely destroyin nova srs (i know they are slow but i mean DESTROYING!!)

i forgot to mention, this is why a probably ended up with a blown headgasket and 6, yes 6 snaped valve springs!

1st - 30MHP

2nd - 53MHP

3rd - 83MHP

4th - Didnt have enough road

Something is defo wrong , any ideas???

mark, same here - only tested 3rd and had 85mph

running 194/45/15

mine was doing

1st 40

2nd 70

3 rd 100

4 th 125

5 th 144

this was a heavily modd valver with limieter set at 7600 rpm

Like I said with mine, this was speeds at the red line.

Obviously your gonna get higher speeds if the limiter is set higher.

As wongy says something is defo wrong with yours, mine is standard apart from decat+box:

1st 37mph

2nd 62mph

3 rd 93mph

4 th 114mph

5 th 138mph

I can confirm the 125mph in 4th with wongys, ive still got it on video!

was thinking about this thread and dont understand how the speeds can vary so much in each gear.

if the gear boxes have the same ratio, and the limiter is set the same how can the speeds vary (other than speedo inaccuracy due to wheel/tyre sizes)

surely the condition of the engine will only affect how quickly the car reaches the limited.

i went to the limiter in 3rd with 195/45/15s and speedo read 85.

im ready to be corrected though...

Still cant understand how i couldve got to 130 in 4th guys with 17s on?

I know theres a recon gearbox in mine, possibly a 19 16v one?

What are they geared like as i know its a different box?
