What to mod on my 1.2 16v ?

  Shed.
So on the expression 5 door i wanna modify the engine further, seeing as ill be keeping it for a while....... I dont wanna touch the exterior as it's a 5 door and it looks s**t, so i was thinking so far -

Allready have a K&N induction kit, with no heat shield and a cold air feed.
So what else yould i add that wont rape me totally ?

KTR Sports cat ?
Air Filter relocated to just in front of the grill ?
Remove the cat ?

Dont relocate it to the grill as it's right behind the rediator and will heat soak to feck. TBH though a de-cat is VFM but that's as far as it'll go without spending ££££ but you'll get no 'major' gains.....

These engines are fairly well tuned as standard and you will not gain much without spending loads of cash. Save it and pay cash for your next car.

I have heard mixed things about the decat.

Firstly you will find it hard to get hold of one. Secondly people say it can cause erratic idling.

is your a decat on standard system? im thinking of just decatting my standard system

and did you notice any performance gains and how much louder then standard? i want raspier but not like deep and hollowing like the chavs with 6inch dustbins

I thought the 1.2 16v was rubbish!
I would strip it out as thats free and very noticeable, get rid of the spare wheel and get a can of tyre foam (all providing you don't need the rear seats).
Yours is on 14" steelies if I recall which are crap for grip, get some cheap 15" alloys be they turbines or even standard dynamique wheels, then lower it and it should handle like a hero.
The weight saving should help the acceleration but the above will make it more fun in the twisties, theres no point really tuning a 1.2 16v engine wise.

No mine sounds very raspy, definatley not deep and droney. Usually decats will produce a raspy sound anyway.

Gains cannot be sure yet as my exhaust has been blowing, so havent been able to test it properly

i think ill strip it during the summer, use the rear seats a lot atm. Might, MIGHT grab a set of dynamique alloys sometime then also......

if i strip it ill be keeping the side panneling in and what not. dont want it looking too s**t lol. any springs in particular? and drop it how far?

Will take the cat out too.

totally pointless imo..you nor going to make it THAT faster by stripping it. I know its your decision but i just cant see the point in trying to make a 1.2 fast?

Its not the point of making it fast as thats not realistic, its about maximising its potential IMO

More fun. not fast. And my "steelies" grip about as well as skating on s**t.

Mine can be fun sometimes. ive even managed to reach 80 mph in it. :rasp:

As above, and taking all the crap out is noticeable, Michael I would get some thin board and some black carpet to go in the back, ideal shag platform too Clio back seat is a pain in the arse!
