What was your first car!

  Shiny red R32

Joe, did you get my e-mail about the turbo packing up in the Raider. Only had it not yet two weeks! Shouldnt have let those mechanics out in it!! Any advice or will I let them sort it Joe? You have probably got more GTT knowledge than them.

  Clio 197

1964 TR 4 rustbucket although it was only about 6 years old at the time. An absolute piece of junk. Rear main seal, exhaust, engine mounts, speedo cable, you name it, it went. Then some arse stole the knock offs.

I had a 1980 mini 1000 in Ireland which was lots of fun. The speedo needle used to bounce off the peg until the peg broke and then it would spin like a propeller. It spun backwards in reverse. Above about 60 you couldnt even see it!

started with a metro 1.0L a sh*tty gold one brought it really cheap as a runaround till i got a full house on the mot
then i got a mk1 golf loved that 1 it was well nippy and wicked for hand break turns coz the back was so light

then i got a sh*troen zx 1.6 uset to enjoy burning it up against the xr3i pussies it met its end in the side of a rover 75 made it 20" shorter (i hit him hsi fault)

then i got a clio rsi loved it then i traded it againt my 16 valve

  Clio v6

Oh Joe such memories, I had a nice Mini once too. We put a Maxi 1750 twin carb engine in it. The floor was made out of twin tub washing machine sides. "it went like sheeeeeeeeeeeeet !!.." tooooo. ( For a wee while )

Dash lol..

Washing machine parts... ...

I did a conversion on a VIVA to take a ford engine and box (Kent Xflow)

the gearbox support xmember was finally sorted with a washing machine drum clamp (as used for transprtation) !!

It was still fitted 2 years later and never failed..

hee hee

Joe.

My first motor was a 5 GT turbo, so were my next 5 cars! Then got the 16v, then a Mazda 323 turbo, then brought the Supra which I still have, and yep, you guessed it, I got another 5 GTT which I also still have.!

  2005 Audi A3 3.2 Quattro

My first was a white 1993 VW Citi Golf 1800 SPORT. (70kW / 150Nm)

Loved that car from the first day I saw it.

Then got a crappy Opel Corsa 160iS

Now i have my Clio

  R5 Gordini Turbo

My first car was a Renault 5. I had it for 3 weeks then sold it for a Renault 5 Gordini Turbo, which I sold in the end, but I am just about to get it back as I won it in a game of pool.

bigmoose - Gordini turbos are well rare, they are soo nice Can you tell me more about it and how on earth you managed to win it back in pool match?

1.2 Nova - base model 5 door in white (me likes white cars). I Fitted: Centre console, new steering wheel, new door cards, 6x9s under front seats (wickedly basey right up your spine!), bebadged, removed bump strips, GTE seats, Clear indicators, 14in allys, SR exhaust system, GTE suspension. . Plenty of problems tho... Cylinder head, heater matrix pissed all over the inside of the car, water pump fell apart, split hoses etc BUT - Pukka little car Loads of great memories Miss her lots sometimes. The valver is so much a better car - in all ways but Ill probably always compare every single new car to the nova!!

  R5 Gordini Turbo

It is a blue 1982 Gordini Turbo. I was the second owner and it had only covered 40,000 miles whaen I sold it. It needed a little work, but generally was OK. The chap I won it of is the guy I sold it to. He ran it for about 6 months and then got a company car. It is used sometimes but was taking up space. He asked me if I knew of anyone who wanted it one beer warping night, and I said I would play a game of pool. If I won I git the car, if he won I would have to buy it for £750. I won. the car has still only done about 45,000 miles as I went to see if it started (it doesnt) and I get it tomorrow.

Simon W - You had an MG1600 Maestro also for first car, big smile factor with them, fond memories?.

Captain - Yep lovely sound of them, down draught carbs are they not, went onto an 1.6GL escort estate when Maestro died, £30 for manifold for CVH, what a transformation, used to be really quick, used to blow any xr3s that were around at the time of the road, best £30 I have ever spent on tuning a car.
