whats a cam belt tensioner

Sorry for the dumb question, but can anyone advise me what this is?and what it looks like? ive been advised to have it replaced when i have my williams engine fitted. However im alittle confused..

thanks guys

Well it does what it says on the tin son! The reason for change is maybe the willy engine is considered unsafe, in terms of if the tensioner goes the valves will hit the pistons..and you know the rest. Erm..my golf one cost just over £100 to be replaced and fitted..theyre only like £30 though.. FInd your own picture you lazy git!
