What's all this about 438s?

  172 Cup, 1.2 Grande
Ktec or Danny at 519 Supply them.

Im going to have some fitted next year along with Cambelt kit, dephaser and Remap

Its worth while doing cambelt kit at same time for the sake of all the hassle.

With all cambelt kit if i remember correctly Danny and Ktec will supply, fit, remap and cambelt kit for around £1400 but double check with both of them

Are they exclusive to 519 and Ktec then?

What do they compare like with the 421s?

I think they are exclusive to Danny and Ktec only but don't hold me against that

421's you require the possibility of running Standalone ECU to gain the most benefits of them.

438's are the best for value money etc, as they not a lumpy cam and still idle well and run of standard ecu.
They are also the best ones if you use your car everyday.
With a remap most people see around the 20bhp increase on there cars

Just had a look at the specs on the Ktec website and they seem to be identical to the 421's specs that are listed on catcams website.

So what's the difference? What has been redesigned?

According to catcams they're the same, just timed up differently to work on the stock ecu

So I guess you would just time up the 438's as standard where as the 421s would need setting up differently?

If this is the case and the specs are the same this would seem to make the 421s pretty much redundant?

Also why would catcams not engineer them to work with standard timing in the first place?

I intend to.

Just wanted to get peoples thoughts and experiences first.

I have had a similar experience with catcams before when building a high spec nissan sr20de engine.

I had one of the first batches of cams they produced and the timing was way off stock and wouldn't run right at all. Once they were timed in the engine ran great. I think they then went on to redesign the cams to work with stock timing with the next batch. Maybe this is a similar situation?

ring catcams up and ask them??

nope, the 438's are only available from 1 company who paid for them to be done hence why catcams can't sell you them, but they can sell you the 421's, dial them in properly = same same
