Is there a program that's like whats app that will allow me to send messages between an iPad and a Nexus 4 Android phone?

Try search for 'Viber' essentially the exact same thing.

I don't know, I don't have one sorry. I just know it's an alternative to Whatsapp so maybe the Ipad will have that instead...

I don't have the iPad with me, i've left it with my mum so she can message me here in Germany/ Kenya when I go in few weeks.

So ideally need something that people already know works, but i'll see what googling Viber brings up.

You can still text chat on Skype.

My bird uses her ipad to talk to me on imessage via her email.

Haha where did you hear that??! Not a virus otherwise my households 2 ipads and 3 phones are fooked!
