Whats everyones idle with Rs Tuner ? And gearbox life ?

I have just fitted my Rs Tuner Grp N Ecu this afternoon and noticed that it has a slightly raised idle than normal.

It idles at 1100-1200 rpm.

Is this ok ?

And how will the raised 7850rpm affect my gearbox life ?

And does anyone have any ideas what i'll be pushing out powerwise now ?

I have a fully decat stainless steel stealth exhaust system, ITG Panel Filter c/w no acoustic valve and grill air feeds as well as the Grp N Rs Tuner'd Ecu.

My plans are AWT Inlets an 182 Manifold next :)

afaik the raised idle is to make it smoother, gets rid of the vibration, didnt think it was quite 1100-1200 though but im not sure on that.

raised limiter wont affect gearbox life, more engine life, apparently the engines shouldnt be used above 7250rpm regularly, cant remember if its the valve springs or something, but theres deffo a weak point! (some think this might be why VVT deactivates at this point to cause a drop in power, making you change)

It will idle at 1200 when cold. When warm it will idle at 866. The idle was raised roughly 100rpm to smooth out the lumpy idle. What map/files are you using?

I have got the rstuner remap installed and it idles fine when cold but sometimes when i come to traffic lights or stop the idle sticks at around 1.3 - 1.5k and i have to touch the pedal a little bit to make it drop to normal

Any Ideas?

Did you update the map to august? New 6400 aug map fixed this issue as it was a problem on the 6400 software. If your on a diff version, speak with henk he might sort it out if its affecting more than a few users.

I dont really see the need to go past 7k rpm apart from in first gear if your really gunning it from standstill, as the drop in power is very significant after this point and as said it promotes more engine wear.

Mine's had a 7,750 rpm limit for the last 100,000 miles, and no problems so far.

As above power tails off quite quickly so I only really use the extra revs occassionally on track if a corner is between gears; I can hang on to a gear longer than usual before entering which means I don't bang into the limiter on the way in.

Like you guys, i have the Group N map, 7,800 or summit rev limit, i found when i first put it in power would drop off after 7k... then got the de-cat, now the revs are usefull

As Mark said, it's really for those situations where changing gear would actually slow you down rather than hanging onto the current one for that little bit longer.

Very true :)

Idle is sitting about 1100 now. :)

Is this good or bad ?

As i've heard this idle is normal for Grp n remaps :)

Any ideas on power estimates as my car is now (mods listed above) ?

And what difference in power the AWT inlets will do when fitted ?

This may sound silly but here goes :)

What will happen to the valve springs ?

Will they break ?

I won't be running it to 7850 rpm on a regular basis anyway, its just nice to know its there if i need it :)

And its a bit of a relief the vast majority of us has really had no gearbox issues with Rs Tuner/Grp N remaps fitted :) :)

its in the (CBOM/CBIC) section for ecu calibrations

its annoying me when i sit in traffic my revs also fluctuate between like 1.1 and 1.5k rpm... doesnt seem healthy

Or makes people next to you think you want a race.

Lol :rasp:

You have bought an unlocked R-Sport ECU from a fellow forum member.
Not related to RSTuner in any way.
The R-Sport ECU needs to be used with a different inlet cam.
