Whats the best way to clean air filter?

Got a BMC induction kit and think its probably time the filter had a clean. Just soap and water or is there a special technique?

Is yours a BMC or a foam filter cos I know you need to spray the foam ones?

I would use a strong soloution of dish wash detergent, throughly rinse, dry and re-oil jobs a gooden

the foam ones are'nt supposed to be oiled , i've got the ITG and it does'nt need oiling

this and also that it catches more dust when it's oiled..

wash it with washing up liquid and warm water in the kitchen sink

rinse untill it runs fully clear

dry over night in airing cupboard

re oil if needed
