Whats The Difference

As i dont have a clue can someone explain to me what the difference is between Coaxial speakers & Component speakers ?

There is pleanty kicking about on Ebay and im looking at replacing all my standard speakers.

I will be running them off my pioneer head unit and i will not be running a sub or amp

co-axial have the Tweeters (tops) in with the mids, so 2 types of speaker within one enclosure.
Components are seperates (tweeter and mids) with a cross-over, these are harder to fit than the co-axial but if amped will sound better.

If you go for co-axial the added problem is the tweeters in the Clio on the dash, you will get loads of top (treble), the speakers in the back are in a bad position so don't spend the earth on those, they will fill the sound stage but won't sound great from the front.

Alpine co-axials are good 5 1/4 " anything upto Type R's, I even picked up some Type R's for £46 on ebay but will only fit in the back as the magnet is very large.

Check out the loudest.com for £119 front speakers which for the money are awesome. good sensitivity also @ 91 db.

These are component or co-axial so you can change them in the future if you fancy it.

^^^ I was with you, until you mentioned 'the loudest.com', their stuff is W.A.N.K.

Go for Some good components up front, but co-axials will surfice for the rear.

What's your budget?

Thanks for all the info above guys.

From what i remember i put Component speakers in my Vectra and i binned the crossovers and tweeters as i already had tweeters in the car and the speakers on there own are very loud and good enough.

So im looking for a good set of Component's for the front and a decent Coaxial for the rears.

My budget is around £150 all in for both front and rear speakers

lol, nice one, just because they are cheap or not, I like them and they are sound better than the Type R's so Ears for Ears.
I have them powered by a JL audio amp.

Nothing to do with price mate, there's some very good speakers out there for sensible money. The JL amp however, excellent choice :) I'm a big fan of JL stuff.
