What's the most common size wheel on Clio rally cars?

i don't think a 15 will fit over the calipers, i know the cup racers run 15's from the factory if that is any help?

as in a multi-terrain rally car?

I'm not too sure.. Old 205 beasts wore 13".. TeeHee.. Real Cars!

'generally' rally cars in particular use bigger wheels for tarmac and smaller wheels for gravel.

But for clios I would go for 15'', if for nothing else theres a decent availability of competition tyres in that size. Its what I use, but thats what I have, so that why i use it :)

Okay, definitately going for 15" then! :)

Now need to decide which tyre 'aspect ratio' to go for. 45 seems to be the norm but I've also heard 50 recommended. What does it mean - what would be the difference?

I want to lower my mk1 by 60mm so need wheel clearance.

Tyres are described like 185/55/15

185 is the width
55 is the profile
15 the (wheel)diameter

the smaller the profile the more it looks like a rubber band.
If you are lowering and you need clearance you need lower profile tyres.

Okay, I meant the 'profile' then. (It calls it aspect ratio in the eBay alloy section).

So if I'm lowering significantly, and adding a full body kit, would 195/50/15 be too much?

What mark clio?

The mk1 maxis ran 17" for gravel and 18" for tarmac IIRC.

Trye wise 195/50's you will be fine (theyu are a frantion different to the 185/55's) but are cheaper.

Awww B*ll*cks! I was just about to go to bed, happy in the certainty that 15" was the way to go on my mk1, phase 3.

Grrrr. How much do they lower on their 18"? They must have really extensive archwork. (ffs!)

to be honest, i think most people on here would say use 15's. but if you keep asking about there are people who do compete their cars. i think holister is one. another definately is tony hunter. if you keep looking someone will have a proper answer for you.

The maxi rally cars ran a wide arch kit, looking circa 800 notes for the kit.

If staying on standard arches stick with 15's (16's at most)

Tonys series ran 16's turinis.

Get some 15's and you wont go wrong. Are you looking at rallying, or just building a rep?

Lol. I've got an 11 year old 1.2L, (only model I can afford to insure with zero no claims bonus). I just want to look as though I'm looking at rallying. And yes I do have modding insurance - surprisingly it was less than £100 more than standard, and I can do practically what I want with the car.

This week I've bought some nice 15" alloys and a pair of Cobra seats. Cost 50% the price I paid for the car!

Is this your first car? Do you have money to burn?

In a years time you'll deeply regret spending all that money on a 1.2 clio...
