Whats this pipe do?

The pipe that comes off the side of the induction elbow on my 172, Im pretty sure its a breather pipe, can anyone back me up on this as its raining outside and i dont wanna go look lol.

The reason im asking is, im putting my own induction kit on, and want to know if i can stick a breather filter on this and hide it out of the way.

can get samco with the pipe on

think its just the oil breather

Its already got a green filter on the standard pipe mate, its what the last owner bodged on, looks horrible and the filter is fooked.
So im having a silocone elbow and new filter etc but i can do it lots cheaper than buying a samco or hillpower pipe Thanks for the reply mate, im 99% sure it is a breather.
