What's this white residue under my bonnett?

It's all over my bonnet, everywhere and it does not come off. I've had stardrops on it, flash all purpose cleaner, wd40.. nothing touches it!

Try some turps or tar remover (similar stuff)

you sure? I had the same but got it cleaned off with a bit of elbow grease as it wasn't left on too long....

tried anything like an acid cleaner?

Could the engine bay have been re-painted? It was very tidy when I got it. It's been hit with a lot of APC, Autosmart g101 to try and get rid of it. It does come off when I rub it, when it's dry.. but theres a lot of it and it's all over.

only usually if the car had a full re-spray (colour change)... but it is likely the residue would have got into that area if the previous owner had a knock and had the bonnet or wings painted.... may have happened before you bought it and him not declared it?

It wasn't there when I got it, it's only just started to appear. Surely, it'd have been there before? It's all over the engine bay, even where the bulbs are, and really deep down.

It could be, but I've hit it with every APC under the sun, nothing has shifted it and it just dries back on after I hose it off.
