I watched that the other day, good coverage. Mugging off the police to go fast on the streets is a national past time in Sweden.

Plenty of Maxxecu cars there too.

Do RE Performance (Audi specialist) ever post a video that’s not all doom a gloom

Sometimes I find him funny, and other times think he's an insufferable c**t.

Kind of like the lad in the pub you don't mind having a pint with, and there's usually some funny stories, until he starts telling you how much more money he makes than everyone else and how he Elevenerife's everything.

I found this interesting and thought provoking

Gave this a watch a few days ago.
Really good informative video. Even gained my girlfriends attention! (which is unusual for a car based video)
Covers details us 'driver' focused enthusiats already subconciously knew. But especially good for those point A to point B drivers who probably don't give it a second thought.

I'm fascinated to see if he can make it work. Not because I like his content, but just because it will be interesting to see if yet another British car YouTuber can break out on their own by doing the same old things. Mind you, I could see him being absorbed by AutoAlex if Alex thinks he can make some money out of it.

I was shocked to learn that he was an engineering graduate and that he talked about making in-depth content about engines etc. because I always thought he comes across like he knows absolutely f**k-all about cars to be honest.

On the above, I just noticed that he's got 45k subscribers already, so he's not off to a bad start considering that's his only video.

It's so interesting seeing what works and what doesn't. The whole approach of buying cheap-ish cars, fitting BC suspension, throwing in some Car Vertical ads, and all the standard stuff that AutoAlex, TDC and numerous others do is so f**king boring to me, but they still seem to pull in big audiences, so people obviously like it. I struggle to watch any of them though, and find myself far more drawn to people like Jimmy Oakes. Sure, he has plenty of sponsors and some of it is repetitive, but it seems like much more effort is put into the builds, and you don't have all the dicking about like you get with the low-rent Top Gear wannabes like Alex and co.

Maybe I'm just bitter because my channel is tiny though :ROFLMAO:

Surely the buy cheap car add standard free parts and then finish, has a limited life span?
I can’t stand that Hamster faced bell whiff Rory and refuse to watch anything his grinning fat cheeks is on!

I think these channels tend to follow what works and, when it starts to get less popular, they either pivot to something new, or just crash and burn. It also depends on the popularity of the presenters, as an individual or group with a strong following can keep going for a while.

Obviously Top Gear was the obvious example of that, as that got really tired, but viewers kept watching, even when they went to Amazon. Car Throttle is another good example. The corporate folk got into it and interfered, which pushed Alex out. He was basically the core of the channel though, so it imploded once he left and he took a lot of the viewers with him. He now has enough supporters that he can probably get away with doing the same thing over and over because people like him and will watch whatever shite he puts out. It probably still ultimately has a shelf life, but he'll eek it out longer than less popular creators.

I find it all super interesting to be honest, especially as someone that's trying to grow their own channel. It's a bloody hard slog if you try to start from scratch, and it requires a huge amount of luck in some respects. I've got some videos that have got 20+k views, but some still only get 200. It's nuts. However, if you have connections and can get endorsements and collaborations from the right people, it can make a huge difference. I can see Fernie doing alright to be honest. He's got plenty of subscribers already, and you only have to look at some of the people that have commented on the video above to see that he is well-supported behind the scenes. He'll do some collaborations with AutoAlex, TDC, Ben Collins etc, and that will likely give him the kick start he needs to make a go of it.

It's a shame that's how it works, as it means some pretty average creators get good opportunities just because they know the right people, which allows them to grow fast. Take Ben Collins as one. He is a good driver, but a deeply, deeply average content creator, who just gets opportunities because of his name and past, while there are a lot of really talented people out there that have to spend years trying to build up a following, just because they don't have connections and are purely at the mercy of the algorithm.

I really like what TDC do, 25 minutes watching them arse a round in shitters is a great way to pass time on the toilet. I enjoy their content. AA, is complete nonsense and I rarely watch anything they produce. I find it infuriating that they think it’s funny smashing stuff and throwing it around the workshop. That said the V2 channel they have pulled together some decent content recently. I actually quite enjoyed the mini build they did. Again, decent toilet fodder. I don’t like the chap from Drive tribe, so I won’t subscribe. I enjoy attainable cars being rescued and modified. I do wish they would all go into more detail and be a little more bespoke. But there’s plenty of other content for that, so consume the slapstick ‘rinse and repeat’ format for what it is.

I have noticed that AA has tried to up their game, which they seem to think is driving s**t cars to foreign places. I just find this totally boring! Why the f**k would anyone want to see a 300k Skoda diesel drive to Croatia?

I don't watch any British car youtubers apart from the odd Volkswizard video.

I still watch MCM and sometimes I do find it a bit tired, but I love the music they use and Marty and Moog, so keep going back year after year. I also find they have more interesting cars, especially the JDM stuff.

I prefer the videos of the other lads trying to bring the cars back.

Yeah im mixed on mcm just now, i cant be arsed watching 40+min vids at the best of times, but every thing they seem to be doing is full rebuilds/restorations instead of the almost diy repairs/mods its kinda gone the same way wheeler dealers went,

I can’t stand any of the British cartubers. I can only watch Jayemm and even he has his faults, but his content is more reviews really.
I like his content, but his voice and the way he intentionally has to have the opposite opinion to everyone else (just for clicks) puts me off watching him

I hardly watch any UK car youtubers, anything that falls under the Auto Alex umbrella is turbo cringe, I can't wait for him to get outed as being mates with Andy Windsor and Diddy or something

I don’t think I’ve noticed him being deliberately contrarian (but then I am thick, examples please), but he very much prefers a handling bias that favours real world roads over out and out track performance, if that makes sense. So cars that, for example, Chris Harris wanks over might not find the same favour with him.

Plus I find he just enjoys driving anything, at heart. Even if he has no idea what’s mechanically going on.

There are still quite a few UK channels I watch regularly. Jamie at Officially Gassed still makes decent videos. His mate who knows f**k all about cars can do one though.

Also been watch Hudson Auto Films recently, he seems to like restoring weird and wonderful kit cars in a barn in the middle of a field with no electricity or water.

Twin engined corsa also features some different cars, he’s a bit shouty but tolerable.

Not economically viable is ok too but hasn’t been putting much out recently.

And I do enjoy High Peak Autos now and again.
