I've watched some of Harry's video but, honestly, I can't get that excited about the T.50. I can see why Murray wanted to revisit the concept after the F1 but, to me, it feels like a sequel that just doesn't have the soul of the original. It's extremely impressive, but the F1 looks better, sounds better and is just far more interesting. I'm sure some of it is nostalgia, but the F1 felt genuinely space-age when it launch, whereas the T.50 feels like a bit of a pastiche. Obviously I wouldn't say no if someone handed me one, but it doesn't give me the fizz that some other cars do. That limited run of special operation cars they did that look more like the F1 are way, way cooler, and I think even the McLaren P1 is more appealing than the T.50. That was another car that felt like it was really pushing the boundaries.

The thing that's wrong with the t50 is its looks.

It looks abit tesla-esque and 3 million it doesn't give the fizz, look back at it when parked up, walking away imo

yeah, I appreciate the engineering that's got into it, 12,000 rpm, 1000kg etc etc but it doesn't excite me in anyway.

Also the fan on the back really spoils the look (not that it's a looker from the front either).

The rest is valid but this is wrongissimo.

In your opinion maybe, but not mine. The engine in the T.50 is impressive but, in the videos I've seen at least, the high revs mean you don't get the same induction bark as you get in the F1. Don't get me wrong, it's cool in its own way, but I'd take the F1.

I would think that's why one of GMA's wealthy customers requested Murray to design a car based off the T50 to look more like the F1 (LM). Named S1 LM....very creative.

I like The Car Edition and now they are doing a track car series. I wonder if the Clios were ever on here?

Anyone watched Matt Armstrong‘s latest video, with the two young fellas doing the work on the Bentley

Not sure what the idea was behind it but it just seemed any old shite to produce half an hour of content

Anyone know who they are?

Jack McNeil is one of them.

He’s quite popular on YT too and is in MA circle,

He tends to buy mundane cars and engine swap them.

Ah that explains it 👍

I got the impression from the MA video that they were making out that neither of them had any mechanical experience (it must have been lack of bodywork repair experience).

I found it a bit weird too. I know it was a mk2 channel video but definitely just filler ‘content’

Also, I really like TDC but I can’t help but feel their videos are getting a bit samey samey at the minute. Don’t get me wrong, I quite liked seeing the m135i, to the point I want one, but it’s all starting to get a bit Auto Alex. Buy the cheapest version of said car, car vertical check it, put some febi bits on it, go to GSF, put some Motul oil in it, drink some holy, get it mapped, take it for a drive at the end, fin

Yep I feel the same. I like them two but the format is getting stale.

I listen to the tdc podcast to kill time in the car, but their content is mind numbing, unsurprising really as they're part of the auto Alex circle.

I've been binge watching this guy's E30 restoration over the last few days

I’m not sure what folk expect from a free to watch YouTube channel or podcast? They do what works for them and their audience. I think they do a bloody good job of it. I also think that the AA content has improved significantly of late! Yes I get annoyed by the dicking about, breaking stuff, but it’s enjoyable and I’m very jealous they earn a living doing something they clearly love. No one is forced to watch and I’d guess very few are actually paying to watch other than eyes on some crappy sponsorship deals

TDC (and the whole AutoAlex harem) really do seem to have gone down the formulaic route. It feels like a content making business, not enthusiasts getting paid to do something they love. I think that's the trap a lot of them are now falling into sadly, because they've got caught up in adsense and brand deals in order to make it profitable.

I think it's why the likes of Adam LZ and are playing it much smarter. They set up businesses alongside the YouTube channel that generate income, then they can focus the content more towards cars they actually care about, so it feels more genuine. Even with his giveaway cars, he says up-front that it's for a competition, so it feels more authentic. Contrast that with Drift Games, who have really gone downhill since they partnered with a competition company. Instead of being open, they've bought a couple of cars, acted like they really care about them, but then ended up giving them away, so it comes across as really false and undermines the whole "passionate guys doing what they love" narrative.

It's a really fine balance when you're a content creator, as you obviously need to make money, but it's so easy to end up sounding like a corporate shill that will say anything to make money. More and more car YouTubers are falling into that trap sadly. I think if I ever reach the point of doing some of those corporate deals, I would avoid working with companies like Car Vertical on principle to be honest, because hearing their ads pisses me off so much. It now seems to be an almost inevitable part of almost any British YouTube car video.

Aye, I guess it’s just annoying when they could easily do much better stuff I.e concentrating on a build over a few weeks rather than the bang it all in a 20 min video then onto the next one and rinse and repeat. The sheer amount of sponsors and what not now is mental too.

But like you say, they’re at the mercy of the true owners of the channel and if they’re getting views, they’re getting money

See the way I look at it, there are other channels that do longer form multi episode builds. Bug the TDC stuff is quick and dirty and that’s their position in the market. They do it very well. It’s nice we get both options really. One things for sure, there is a large audience of their stuff that want the shorter form content. I’d hazard a guess the data points as that being their biggest audience, so that’s the tune they play.

I find the Fabco videos enjoyable, he doesn’t post a lot but as he’s not a YouTuber by day but they’re less clickbaity & formulaic because of that. Similar with BQR but a much different vibe, less precision more dicking around, they are starting to get sponsored more so hopefully that doesn’t kill it off.

The one last week about repairing the rear window on their ML63 AMG and giving it a service was shite! I didn't bother with it once I knew what it was about.
